Teh Awesome Achievements thread

somewhere people mentioned their proudest achievements and i meant to join in but fate conspired against me. god know what thread it was, appears its not this one! i thought id chime in anyway - it has to be stranglehold. its hard to remember quite how hard some of the bastard achievements weve gotten were at the time, but i remember having a hard time with stranglehold on hard boiled difficulty AND me and the dog put in a ludicrous amount of manhours to get those online cheeves. so challenging cheeves, and hella grinding cheeves in abundance. has to be stranglehold.

distant runners up include

Banjo Kazooie N&B - some really difficult missions made harder by level design and unforgiving handling, plus quite a lot of time invested

CoD2 - very difficult on vet, and it gets worse as the game goes on. i think i actually did some kind of stupid dance when i finished it

CoD4 - not as hard as its older brother but some sections were up there fo sho

Street Fighter IV - getting to 800 seems to be pretty much the extent of my skill, and that had some blisteringly hard moments. had to get used to characters i hate to do what trials i could (normal and about half of hard), survival missions with lofty parameters, fight gouken on hardest

GTA IV - fuck.ing.pidgeons.

Doom - I dont remember this being toooooo bad but one of the achievements is complete the game on ultra violence, that cant have been pretty

that was cathartic!

oops i suppose theyre not indivdual achievements really, but all those games have multiple hard/mammoth ones and my GS on them was in itself an achievement for me!

Mile High feels great when done, just everything finally goes right all in one go.

After two years of Halo 3 online (obvoiusly not contantly playing) i finally got:

post-80-12547346767799.jpgOverkill

Killed 4 enemies within 4 seconds of one another in a ranked free for all playlist.

It was on King of the Hill on a Legendary Brawl, the hill was in a small room with only one real entrance so i lobbed in two consecutive grenades which earned me a triple kill and then melee'd the last cunt with my Brute Shot, it was fantastic.

yeah good work on the overkill illdog!

Nice one. I really hate the Halo 3 achievements, the ranked FFA ones can fuck off. Didn't anyone tell Bungie playing alone wasn't fun?

i agree with you on the ffa ones. on the other hand, one of the vidmaster ones was one of the most fun (and also hardest) achievements i've done. with highly coordinated ghost driving - BOOST NOW!

I disagree about the FFA achievements and playing on your own, free for all is my favorite type of match, i enjoy killing anyone who appears infront of me and again the cheeves are something to aim toward.

What i dont like are map specific achievements like get 5 hammer kills in Assembley or some such shit, its a bit specific and its not like you can select that map to play on, its pot luck. It also means most people run straight to the middle to get the hammer and then camp in a corner waiting for passing fools. Its rubbish.

Actually, im not a fan of online achievements full stop.

yeah when they make people behave (even more) like idiots they aren't good at all.

There were badges in Bad Company that totalled up to unlock achievements, and some of them were really stupid. Some people would not play the game as it should be trying to earn these badges (like squishing enemies with the chopper) and it would just fuck the whole meaning of the game up when you had people not working as a team to earn wins. By all mean, have online achievement, but FFS make them so that you don't get people dicking around trying to get them.

I'm on 41,065, with a ratio 60.21% completed. My True Achievement score is 59,970. I don't really bother with gamercard sigs for the simple reason that people jump on it as you being a fanboy to either system when debating stuff if they don't like what you are saying. I like achievements though, I just wouldn't play shit games like a lot of people do to boost a score that doesn't really matter. I don't mind fixing achievements to good games though, sometimes it can even be fun.

This is pretty cool though, you can use silverlight to make gamercard that you can fondle with your mouse now. Not sure how far back you can go down my catalogue of games.
