Multi-format stuff

One of the reasons I wish that the old database wasn't wiped is that everytime someone brings up wanting to talk about something multi-format I'd be able to link to the thread we had (most current members were still here) when I wanted to make the site multi-format as I suspected most were here for the banter rather than the DS, and the unaimous response was "Oh no! This should be DS & Wii only or just Nintendo!"

This is what you lot wanted, so try and keep anything to do with a non-Nintendo machine in Off-Topic.

Maybe we'll make a new part of the forum just for multi-format stuff, but if the activity there gets busier than the rest of the site, we'll have to bring up that old question again.

Personally, I'm not against the idea of the site being multi-format, it's just nice and tidy(ish) with it's current format. But yeah, a new part of the forum for multi-format sounds like a good idea.

I don't have a 360, but I'll probably get one quite soon (to be honest, probably before I get a Wii), so I/We/They might want to organise some Live games. Certainly I'd be happy to play some PC games online with you guys, but who has what game? I'm still reeling from being chastised for my Quake 4 suggestion

Ooh, I know, I'll set up a topic just for that purpose.

And PSP - can you even play online with that? Does anyone even give a rat's ass?

I think the forum needs a different section for Wii, another for DS and in the other section, a sub-section for games and other nerd stuff(even though games aint just for nerds anymore).

As for PC games online, feel free to fight me on America's Army ;D

Well, in fairness, relmatos, the site is meant to be Nintendo-related as a whole.

We just focus on the DS and Wii as the site was built out of practicality but is now more of a Nintendo in general kind of thing.

Besides which, it'd be pretty pointless having a large Wii section now when it isn't out for over a month and some here aren't even bothering then.

Personally, I'm against the idea of using the Events for multi-format.

Either multi in Off-Topic, a new menu for multi or none at all - it's your choice.

But I made a dick of myself last time for suggesting we went multi-format (and getting slammed for it) and yet here I am moving First Impression topics around as they're for other formats.

Go figure.

There wasn't a single person who wanted it to be multi-format, which surprised me.

On topic though i didnt like the thought of the multiformat thing its alot of extra work and it would lead to alot of flaming and fanboyism plus being Nintendo only shows what we are mostly about. I dont expect many people on here to care about 360 and PC stuff but obviously some do and it sits quite happily in offtopic the furthest i would like ti to ever reach would be having an Other Formats forum.

The way the forum is now is more out of desperate need to change it from how we used to do it (the "forum for every wifi game" thing).

Any ideas would be grand!

The actual structure of the forum doesn't really bother me, I tend to click on 'posts since last visit' and sift through them. That said, having a forum for every wi-fi game isn't practical anymore, I agree.

As for improving the site in general, well I can't think of much (to your credit), I like the high-scores idea that's kicking about at the moment, I guess we'll all have to try and figure out how best to work it.

Maybe, since there are quite a few members nowadays, we could try organising more tournaments and such like? Just a thought...

Ooooh, and when Pro Evo comes out, we could have an official DS-Wiifi league!

I've got some new ideas myself and I'll add them to the Achievements thread later.

We did try doing tournaments ages ago, but they fell apart as it was difficult to get people to find common time to play each other, but worth a try now the dust has settled.
