Hendo Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 That's amazing! Have you heard the other guy, Mr Hopkinson's computer? <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
HandsomeDead Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I don't like Radiohead that much either, don't worry. I was doing some Xmas shopping today with folks and in the car journey I heard music. Not sure what it was, I think it was Alexandra Burke but it might not of been, it was very hard to tell, felt like I'd heard it all before without ever hearing it, or even wanting to hear it. Also heard some Westlife, it used that piano riff that Journey and everyone else uses, someone from here posted a vid that reminded me of it. Today wasn't very inspirational, I hate non-inspirational days, they can suck my cock.
Hendo Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 He doesn't just do Radiohead: <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKucYHWSaXg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKucYHWSaXg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKucYHWSaXg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Hendo Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 From one link to another, I stumbled across a good music podcast - NPR : All Songs Considered, which seems to be a bit of everything, which suits my music taste fine. The main reason I subscribed to it is they're doing the usual end of year and end of decade type stuff, but haven't got to that yet. This is a beauty from it: <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>And another good 'un: <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
DANGERMAN Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Been listening to Abner Jay True Story of... It's a collection that came out this year of some of his tracks. He was a blues singer in 60's I think, sounds earlier but that's what Wiki tells me. His stuffs quite funny though, some of it kind of sad though. One of his better known songs is called Cocaine, which is all about cocaine shockingly enough. It's funny, but also kind of sad if you look at the human side of it. There's a song about his wife that's laugh out loud funny too. One of the better albums I've heard this year I think <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Craymen Edge Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Just finished listening to episode 10 of AIOTM. It was great stuff, I've really enjoyed the whole series.
DANGERMAN Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Michael Jackson getting cockslapped by jesus was genius
Craymen Edge Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I've been singing the 'I've been Cockslapped by Jesus' sting (to the tune of 'I kissed a girl'), from episode 9 to myself for the last few days. I should really try to stop doing that.
Hendo Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I've heard the name "As It Occurs To Me" being referenced by a few people on Twitter and I just thought it was most likely some American teen drama or something. I've subscribed and downloaded them all, most way through episode 1 now.
Hendo Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 That's good because I stopped it about halfway through. He's comes across as someone bitter about not being in the public eye anymore, and doesn't seem to understand why he's not, or he does understand but then goes about continuing to sabotage his chances, so he can continue to moan about it. At this point, I think to sum up, he's trying too hard.
Jimboxy Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 i struggled with AIOTM as well, the collings and herring podcast is much much better. (IMO Obviously)
DANGERMAN Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 That's his persona, if you hear him talk on the other podcast he's fairly honest about how well he's doing (making a profit from his shows, owns his house etc), but that if he was offered a tv/radio show he'd take it. Its worked out well for him too, he's made more tv appearances since he started this. One thing I will say is that he's probably too cross referential, to understand the bitterness of this podcast you probably need to have heard its origins on the Collings & Herrin podcast. Same when he references The Men of Phise story in a later ep. The original story is piss funny, but im not sure how interesting it would be in this without knowing the source
Hendo Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I've finished episode 4 and it's getting better, some funny bits in it, but also some dodgy bits that would've been helped by editing, but hey, I like the idea of doing it this way. Also subscribed to the Collins and Herring podcast, downloaded them all which took fucking ages. About a hundred of them to go through!
Sly Reflex Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Over a 100? How much time do you have on your hands man? It would take me about 6 month to listen to all that. I can only find time for 2 or 3 podacasts a week, and that's only if they are not silly long.
Hendo Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I'm not working at all till the new year now. Having said that, I just started Mario & Luigi because I'd cleared my run of podcasts and could concentrate on the text and music in the game.
hinn888 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Free song by Broken Bells I quite like it. By James Mercer and Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse)
Hendo Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 I know I'm pretty much on my own liking jazz, but I listened to a bit of a modern jazz special on the NPR podcast and they played a song that I thought was amazing, and has a kick to it so maybe people who don't like jazz can still like it. Maybe. Awesome song title too. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Hendo Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 That NPR podcast I've been listening to has a spin-off that I'd recommend called NPR : Live Concerts and has full length audio concerts and also short videos that they film in their office. Loads on there too, amongst others there's Tom Waits, Iron & Wine, Dinosaur Jr, The Swell Season (the duo from the film Once), Mavis Staples, Radiohead, The Ting Tings, Fleet Foxes, Mogwai and a shit ton more.
