Jimboxy
I'm trying out the Last FM thing on Live, haven't used the proper one for ages. The streaming's good, I'm trying out the La Roux station and it's coming out with similar electro-pop. It has pictures of the artists while they play. Pixie Lott's an interesting looking artist isn't she? can you play games at the same time?
Hendo
Nope, you can't even view the dashboard without then music going off. Still, not bad for free.
DANGERMAN
is it not free on your pc?
Hendo
Indeed it is, but it's no less free on the ring of death. Unless your a dirty silver sub of course.
DANGERMAN
So it's £35 a year on 360? Bargain we need a whistle smiley. On topic, I got Biffy Clyro's new album last week (Only Revolutions). Tis good, I was a bit worried I was starting to go off them, or at least out grow them, but there's a few brilliant songs on this. There was on the last album too, but some of the heavier stuff started to feel a bit flat, which doesnt really seem to be the case on this
HandsomeDead
Up above I said I'd get the Them Crooked Vultures album, its blisteringly good. Well the first 8 songs are because every time I've put it on thats all I get to. I can't start where I left off when I listen to albums, some ODC thing probably. But yeah, two thumbs up for it. Dead End Friends is sticking out for me at moment as a favourite.
Cyberpunk
I'm currently revisiting some of my old Prog Rock Cd's, and these two albums are some of my favourites. Operation Mindcrime, by Queensryche. The album tells the story of a charector called Nicky, who is enslaved mentally by hypnotic suggestion, and physically by heroin addiction, by Doctor X. Doctor X uses Nicky to kill people within the government, to further his cause of political revolution, but Nicky, sick to his stomach of murder and death, ends up revolting. Because of this, Doctor X kills Nicky's love, an ex prostitute turned nun called Mary, and frames Nicky for the crime. Nicky ends up going mad with grief, and is commited to a sanitarium, before being tried and convicted of the murder of Mary. This album was released in 1988, and a sequel was released in 2006. Operation Mindcrime 2 told of Nicky's release from prison 18 years later (with 18 years between the two albums as well), and how Nicky has nothing to live for but to revenge himself on Doctor X, now a rich and powerful man. After chasing Doctor X down, and killing him, Nicky once again falls into grief and dispair. He starts to see the ghost of his lost love Mary, but she is no help, and even blames him for her death. The sequel ends with Nicky's suicide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnxPtlHm1Zw
Sly Reflex
I have gradually been reinstating my iTunes after a format and I have come across a lot of songs that were played to death in my youth. I don't think I have listened to anything recently that was under 15 years old, it's songs like this that remind me of sitting in in the winter and listening to the warm sounds of my parents vinyl collection. Speaking of which I must get War of the Worlds as I have not heard that for at least a decade now. Anyway, this is the last thing I listened to. I don't know if OMD are cheesy or naff, but I love stuff like this from the eighties. <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq2vl99iIEc&hl=en_GB&fs=1&">
Jimboxy
I just watched that Peter Kay Children in Need video thats all kids TV show characters in a mega mix type thing. Its probably not cool to like it, but i thought it was great. Also thought it was inspired going from Hey Jude in to Elbows One Day Like This. Hendo
I don't know if OMD are cheesy or naff, but I love stuff like this from the eighties. I prefer the more blatantly pop stuff of theirs like Enola Gay and Sailing On The Seven Seas. <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ_X43zcXcU&hl=en_US&fs=1&"> <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">And yeah Jim, I like the Peter Kay vid, must've taken ages! Cyberpunk
Speaking of which I must get War of the Worlds as I have not heard that for at least a decade now. I'm a big fan of the Electronic Eighties stuff. And I've got shit-loads of it. And also War of the Worlds is one of my favourite all time albums. Can I reccommend you try Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds Live on DVD, Sly? It's Jeff Wayne on stage conducting the ULLAdubULLA strings, and the Black Smoke Band, performing the War of the Worlds live, with cast members playing the various parts, cgi graphics on a hugh screen, a 30 foot Martian fighting machine, and Richard Burton brought back to life. On a similar note, I just found out that they've put a 25ft tall statue of a martian fighting machine up in Woking, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of H.G. Wells The War of the Worlds, and woking as the birthplace of modern Sci-fi, and Mr Wells based most of his book there. This is a represntation of the cylinder, that crashes into Horsell Common. Sly Reflex
I just sat and watched that video with amazement. I'm going to have a look for this and get hold of a copy. I'd just like to add that I prefer the walking Martians as well from the cover art, the floaty ones on the film just are not as good.

Sly Reflex
I stayed up to silly o clock again listening to the complete album on youtube. It was fucking awesome. I showed my friend and she didn't like it. So I schooled her. I schooled her good. What kind of parenting do these people have that have no respect for masterpieces like this? Hendo
That video is ace! Burton is a bit scary though, they didn't bother animating the rest of his face much. Love the album, you gotta love it for nothing else but Phil Lynott is on it!
