HandsomeDead
I'm just starting to move on from the last stuff I posted. First off I found the first three Rage Against the Machine albums in a pack and I got them, I remember borrowing The Battle for Los Angeles way back when and I'm giving them another go, must say I'm liking it on a musical level but it's not quite grabbing me properly. I'm intending to give it and the others a chance. I have a collegue who is a metal fan and when I mentioned I like Muse he instantly suggested I should try Dream Theater since they both have that Prog influance, I'm generally quite fond of the genre so I have finally give in and I'm giving Falling Into Infinity a spin. Again, musically great, brilliant in parts but I feel for the anthemic sound they're going for it doesn't quite get there. Maybe I need to different mindset while listening because I know I could get into both these bands. Getting out of the GH/RB type music I've also been dabbling in the Silver Jews. I don't know anything about them, they were mentioned in the Genius function on iTunes while I was playing some Hold Steady and it's this I've been listening to the most, it has that same Americana stories about bars, hoodwinks and women that the Hold Steady does but in a more sedate, less Zepplin-esque way. Good stuff.
Hendo
I've rediscovered one of my music podcasts, KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic - a morning show on an American radio station that plays loads of left-field stuff. On the podcasts they have a full live in-studio set from a band. Some more well known ones are Jose Gonzalez and Stephen Fretwell, but I'm listening to one of my favourites, a British band called Psapp. Great stuff for when you're drinking the morning coffee. DANGERMAN
I remember watching Psapp on there, was good. not sure I could listen to a podcast a day from there though (timewise I mean). Not bad though, Silversun Pickups and Bat for Lashes on the first page
Hendo
If you haven't heard his stuff before, I'd recommend watching the James Yuill one. Might surprise you when he starts playing. I played a gig with him a couple of years ago, he's doing quite well! I just started watching the Eels one, now that's a beard.

DANGERMAN
Amazon appear to have ballsed up and are selling loads of full mp3 albums for 29p. Most seem to have been taken down, but if you go to their mp3 page then look at the list of most popular artists, that's a fairly good guide. I got a 2 disc Faith No More best of (despite having all the albums) for 29p, thats just over a penny a track And the Yeah yeah Yeahs new one
Hendo
Bought the new Bats For Lashes album in town. Have imported it and listening to it now, really good stuff. Also bought the Flight of the Conchords DVD series which will go well with the album I bought ages ago.
Hendo
That KCRW podcast threw up a really good band that I listened to last night, Miike Snow. Two of the people in the band were responsible for Britney Spears' "Toxic". It's very warped pop, post-rock kind of thing. Very much like Sigur Rós in places. I heard a few obvious piano mistakes though, but I think they said it was their second appearance in public.
Sambob
Ive been listening to Tommy Reilly a lot lately, yeah the cunt that won a tv show on channel four to be semi famous. Anyway, he came off pretty well on that show and I really like the other songs he has done, just not available to buy anywhere, only a few are out so youtube has been my friend. Its odd because he actually isnt a great singer, or the best musician, he has a funny scottish accent when singing too, but I just really like his songs. In particular I like 'Words on the floor' and 'Mind on other things'.
KYUSS
Went to see The Fleet Foxes at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Thurs. The band were excellent but the heat was a killer, also they announced that Jacko had died towards the end of the gig. Sad news. I see that the US xbox marketplace are getting Thriller Video for free, 200 points for us UK'ers.
DANGERMAN
Watched a bit of Glastonbury tonight, just caught the back half of Neil Youngs set, and he was awesome. Amazing that he was so convincing and energetic given his age. Awesome cover of A Day in the Life too

Sambob
Went to see them at Thekla on sunday, they were fucking amazing. Thekla is a wicked venue too, very very surreal to be on a boat.
