That music-map is pretty good. I just used it to search for Low and it threw up a decent mix of stuff. Probably half of it I've already heard, and doesn't sound anything like Low* (Mono, mogwai, Godspeed, Sigur Ros, Trail of Dead, Yo La Tengo), there's a few things i've heard of but never listened to, then some stuff I doubt I'd have ever come across.

As such I'm currently listening to Black Mountain, which is pretty good. Quite bluesy for a post-rock band, sound a bit like Crippled Black Phoenix

(*which you could argue suggests that people that like Low would like these bands, because I do and clearly so do other people)

EDIT: Also been listening to lots of Smog (and Bill Callahan, their the same person), love the miserable bastard

I've now found a similar thing within spotify. Has anyone that uses it been tempted by the premium subscription. Its £10 a month, but you can save playlists and use it on mobile devices and ipod touch (also lets you save playlists to iphone/touch) I'm pretty tempted by it, it would essentially give me a limitless collection of music to listen to.

A mate of mine doesnt buy/download any music any more because of Spotify. Personally I couldn't do it, I dont think I'd listen to albums enough if there was always something new. That said in a few years when wireless internet is all around us, you wont have to worry about connection even when your just walking down the street

I love the 'Radio' mode in spotify, just choose the genres and decades you want and away you go.

I think if it was £5 per month I would probably have signed up already. I don't feel the £10 price tag offers me enough over and above what I can do for free, especially if you're not a user of Ubiquitous Apple Device.

I've instantly fallen in love with it. For example I'm now listening to Belle and Sebastian, a band i always thought i would like but never got around to listening to. Turns out they're rather good.

Once i get my new iDevice, i'm going to try the premium for a month, see how i get on with it.

Heard it on the NPR All Songs podcast, and I just listen to it constantly.

That was ok, i do like nice sounding songs having bitter lyrics.

Had a nice surprise the other day. I was killing time in HMV looking at the new cds, one looked slightly familiar. It turned out it was a new Thee Silver Mount Zion album (Kollaps Tradixionales). It's good so far, better than 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons, which was angrier anti-war stuff, but they've started to become increasingly traditional. Not the worst thing, but I do kind of miss their instrumental days

Been listening to a couple of The Replacements' albums today on the bus. Got them a while a go but one of them, Tim, got right under my skin today, I didn't get into it beofore but I was well feeling it today, fucking love it when that happens.

yeah! cant remember the last band that happened with for me, but I remember it happening with the Wildhearts and Tool

I've been pretty much listening to Frightened Rabbit's new album, I think the music to one of the songs (Swim, till you cant see land) is used on a holiday comparison advert, which I'm eather pleased for them about or slightly sad that they had to. It's a good album though, nowhere near as bitter as Midnight Organ Fight, which is a shame because I love that album, but it's not like its a bad album.

Also been listening to Neutral Milk Hotel, I've seen the album around thousands of times over the years but never got around to listening to it, shame because it's fucking awesome. Easily the best album I've listened to in about a year. I dont know much about them but from what I've read the album came out in like 1997, so that it took me this long to actually hear them is shaming.

There's a couple of other albums I'm going to get over the weekend, God is an Astronaut and This Will Destroy You have both got new albums out, and Play still havent sent my Joanna Newsom cd out

I dont know if anyone cares, but Play have This Will Destroy You & Lymbyc System for £1.95 for the 320 mp3. I know Hendo liked what he heard of This Will Destroy You, and for less than £2 it's worth a punt right? I've never heard Lymbyc System so I cant vouch for them, but like I say £2 innit

Recently got two super awesome albums, if you are into that kind of music.

The first is Bombay Bicycle Club, and its awesome. Id say its a mix of Vampire Weekend, Boy kill Boy, Interpol, Jimmy Eat World, theres definitely aspects of a lot of different good bands in there, and its a good album. Maybe a little bit samey sounding, but its a good sound so thats not a problem.

The next is the new Vampire Weekend album, and thats also brilliant. Ive liked them since the first stuff they released, and this second album seems to be a more refined sound, perhaps one notch down on the wackiness with the indie aspect toned up a little to compensate that. It isnt really a different sound like the difference between the first and second album of The Horrors which is a massive difference, but there is a slight change of emphasis.

Been listening to the radio a lot recently so I'm currently very much digging "I Am Not A Robot" by Marina and The Diamonds, the new Kelis track and a few others. Also a mate introduced me to a band called Blood Red Shoes and they're getting some airplay, the guitarist is very attractive and also has a great guitar sound so there's my current crush sorted.

I also watched the most recent Later With Jools on the iPlayer for Marina and The Diamonds and bar a few iffy notes she did a good job. Also, Hot Chip were on it with a live drummer and a fantastic track from Gogol Bordello. I think they'd be amazing to see live.

I've found a great duo (surprisingly from America, considering the woman's voice is very British sounding) who do their own stuff and covers, called Pomplamoose.

This Beyonce cover is brilliant.

I've been going back to Queens of the Stone Age lately, mostly Rated R. It's a bit patchy but an alright listen on the most part, and odd in a good way.

As for singles off the radio, I also quite like the Blood Red Shoes track, I heard them a few years a go too but they seemed to just blend in with a lot of similar bands at the time, since that kind of music isn't quite as common (as far as I'm aware) they are getting heard.

Personally I like the new LCD Soundsystem track, it's not they're best work but it's a fun single, I'm looking forward to the album.

So I've been listening to more Rush. Power Windows this time, I dunno about it, it may need more listens. It's sort of traditional prog but still a bit of the 80's accessible stuff, kinda like an uncomfortable middle ground. Maybe a few more spins will make it good.

But on a better note, I've got round to trying out a Big Star album I bought, Alex Chilton's death reminded me, kinda morbid, but it's awesome, like really, really good. I can't think of anything wrong with it, a joy from start to finish. Have a high point:

Listening to the new album by Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip. "The Logic of Chance".

I love these guys. It's a more even experience than "Angles". There may not be anything as instantly amazing as

, but it's consistent and his delivery is much better and clearer this time round, none of the slurring/stumbling of trying to fit too many long words that kind of spoiled "The Beat That My Heart Skipped" on the last album. "Stake a Claim" is the stand out track for me.

Also, anyone that gets Kid Carpet in to do a turn (the last song "Cowboi") gets my vote.
