retroed
Braid is beautiful, entertaining and inspiring. It stretches both intellect and emotion, and these elements dovetail beautifully rather than chaffing against each other. Still wondering if games can be art? Here's your answer. So, who has bought it then? I'm downloading the demo so that I can play it tonight. I have my MS Points at the ready (they arrived today, a sign?), although I'm not that keen on shelling out 1200 on an Arcade game. But, going by Eurogamer's 10/10 review, I think I may have to. Chinzon
Wow, that looks awesome. I just spent all my points on Bomberman and 1942 though... wanted to get rid of them before MS claimed them back. Off to get some more points then... *grumble grumble*
hinn888
Been playing it and i quite like it. I never knew it had rewind time stuff and that on it! I found the third world quite tricky Well i managed to get 11 pieces. Its a really good but still 1200 seems too much, be a definate buy when it drops to 800. Hendo
There hasn't been this much hype about a game for ages. Feature in CVG and CVG's 10/10 review for your asses. Also the guy says in his blog that it was Microsoft's decision to go with the 1200 price point. I'm wondering should I let the hype swallow me and just buy it or try the demo first? It is making every reviewer spout a load of pretensions about it, but it just looks like a normal platformer from where I can see.

Hype is bad in my opinion, everyone goes on about how good it is etc etc. But then all games seemed to be overhyped and they seem bollocks to you. I say try the trial first, even tho its a bloody good game, it doesnt seem that long a game either.
spatular
i got this after trying the demo, seems good so far, nice graphics and sound, i like how you can carry on without having to solve every puzzle as some of them seem impossible. the time rewinding thing isn't explained that well and i get the feeling that if it was explained better i'd have more chance against the seemingly impossible bits. but some of the puzzles i have done so far are really inventive and clever. i didn't read any of the reviews but have definitely been influenced to buy it sooner than i might have by all the good review scores, not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet. retroed
I bought it, I couldn't resist it. Graphically it looks beautiful, with a soundtrack to match. I've just done World 2 (it starts off with world 2 for some reason, guess we'll find out at the end), but there's three pieces of the puzzle that I haven't got yet, so will have to go back and try to suss them out. I've barely scratched the surface with any time bending stuff yet, but I can see it getting pretty taxing later on. 1200 points may seem steep, but it's not a lot for a game of this quality, really. EDIT: Just done all the jigsaw pieces for World 2, w00t! This game makes you feel absolutely amazing when you finally get that light bulb above your head and work out how to successfully get one of the pieces. It was a genius puzzle that I thought nah this won't work will it?, and it did! I'm definitely going to try and 100% each world before moving on to the next. Love it! illdog
I bought this after trying the demo, it just feels so different....the music gives it a slighty off beat feeling that the game itself seems perfectly set to. The puzzles are amazing, reversing time and more importantly finding out what isnt effected by the reversal of time are whats really making it a pleasure to play. By the time i got to the end of World 3 i felt like i had a handle on the game, so now im going back to World 2 to get the 3 puzzle pieces im missing. Hendo
I tried the demo and then bought it. Only had a bit of time to play it so just got 8 out of 12 pieces in the 2nd world, even though it's the first just to confuse things. Do you get extra abilities later on as there's some pieces that looked impossible without a double jump move? It looks stunning!

I saw this on rllmuk: For anyone who likes the soundtrack, all the music in the game was licensed from magnatune.com [who do unlimited lossless album downloads for $18 a month].Here's the full track listing (taken from the credits): "Maenam" by Jami Sieber "Long Past Gone" by Jami Sieber "The Darkening Ground" by Jami Sieber "Tell It By Heart" by Jami Sieber "Undercurrent" by Jami Sieber "Downstream" by Shira Kammen "Lullaby Set" by Shira Kammen and Swan "Romanesca" by Cheryl Ann Fulton

I don't want to post anything spoilerific as the designer reckons that the joy of the game is working it out for yourself, but there's at least two pieces that just sit there well out of your way. The only thing I can think of is manipulating time back and forth and moving your character closer to the ledge each time. I had to do this for one below me but to the right of me? Am I on the right track?
