Pikman Posted September 24, 2025 Posted September 24, 2025 I did it! The Panny Z95B dropped in price today and Richer Sounds have an extra 250 off of their list price (Here's a review for those who like these things, I've watched sooooo much about TVs this year to help me decide!) Should arrive Saturday, very excited!!! 4
Maf Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 Looks really cool. TV’s are this thing where you learn tonnes about them and current models when you’re looking to buy but once you have a TV you just forget it all again
Pikman Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 Yup 😂 I am aware that Dolby Vision 2 is on the way but I doubt we will all be forced to convert quickly. it’s coming Saturday, woohoo! Nice to spend money on myself for a change and not just our kids 😂
mfnick Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 I recently got a G4 in a clearance and went through all that hassle of looking everything up again because I’d forgotten it all. Hate it. Dolby Vision can now get fucked (same with Film maker mode). I loved it on my old TV but on this it’s just very orange & dark. & fuck off with that accuracy bullshit, it just looks bad. I bought a G over C because of the brighter screen & now all these modes are trying to make it darker than my old TV. Load of bollocks.
Pikman Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 Maybe it needs calibrating? I tried to get a G4 (see above) but gave up looking. Then ended up researching this year’s TVs 🙈
one-armed dwarf Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 Yeah the 'warmer' look is apparently about colour accuracy or something, that said there's a 'bright' mode option to a lot of these DV/Film-maker modes which acts as a sort of compromise I guess. I just close the shades and watch the film, I really don't try to get in the weeds with all the settings especially with how bad WebOS is. DV or HDR if it exists on the film, trumotion off to get rid of the slop effect, all good. 1
mfnick Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 I just put it back to standard - with some options altered as required and it looks a 100 times better. Disabled DV and Film maker mode off altogether. Cant say I’ve noticed any issues with firmware though??? What are they? In fact, don’t tell me. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. It’s definitely not grainy on the G4 at least. 1
Pikman Posted September 27, 2025 Posted September 27, 2025 MK World looks CRAZY good on this TV, but… I’m back to this as I still can’t get to 3 cells 😂 4
Nag Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Cheapo replacement for the bedroom tv... The old one is so out of date that most of the streaming apps won't even boot anymore... not expecting much from a sub £350 tv but we'll see. 3
Nag Posted July 12 Posted July 12 It's replacing a Samsung... but that one was a lot more expensive at the time. Screens have come on a long way since then though.
Maf Posted July 12 Posted July 12 A 50” QLED is going to be so bright in a bedroom. Looks nice, though. Enjoy! 1
