this has been in the making for about 2 years, good to see it finally coming!

Can't disagree with that 10 either, spot on really, even though I hate one of them, I can understand why it's there...

Let me guess, Halo :P It's definately the most controversial pick. There's a few that wouldnt make my personal 10, but they're hard to argue with. I'm not sure I'd drop £10 on this, but I'd love to give it a read

EDIT: after hearing what Ed said about the size of it, it actually sounds like quite good value

hehe, spot on Ben :)

This is interesting, in 2000 Edge did another top 10, this time voted by the staff (unlike the new one which is by readers) and this is it -

#1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)

#2. Super Mario 64 (N64)

#3. GoldenEye 007 (N64)

#4. Tetris (GB)

#5. Gran Turismo 2 (PS1)

#6. Quake II (PC)

#7. Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (SNES)

#8. Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES)

#9. Half-Life (PC)

#10. Super Mario World (SNES)

It will be interesting to see if something like Halo is there in another 6 years as I don't it will be, it's not a classic in the same was as a lot of the games in both the lists are....

It's...finally..here..? :woohoo: Being the Edge slut that I am, this is a must buy. Unless Ed gets the last copy in WHSmiths that is. :P

EDIT

Just phoned Smiths & they haven't had any copies in yet. Maybe tomorrow...

What is truely poor show is the presence of HL2... Where's Half-life, a much superior game?

The one from 2000 seems much better more in line with what I would say the top games are.

I mean fucking Halo does NOT deserve to be there yet it bumps Goldeneye and the mighty Quake II.

Resident Evil - the first one is laughably bad. How can you rate this one after the improvements from the 2nd one? That cheesy sub B-movie intro?!

Pac-Man VS - one of my favourite ever games, and would certainly make my own personal 100, but I'm a bit surprised it's in here as I would've thought the lack of single player would halt it.

I'd vote for Resi 1 over its sequel! Mainly because I never played Resi 2 except for a demo, but I really enjoyed Resi 1 on the PS1. At the time it was fantastic imo.

I wish I had known how to vote for this Top 100.

ditto, and then code veronica comes third for me. i also prefer half life 2 to half life 1 (by an insignificant amount, though) and think FFXII has the best combat system of the series, though i imagine most disagree staunchly. aside from halo, the top ten will do nicely.

Alot of these games are viewed through rose tinted glasses, thats why Resi 1 appears so highly.

I was pleased to see Okami, Shadows and Katamari Damacy in there - some of the best and most original games ever created - well done voters. Oddly all PS2 games too, but then it does have a stunning back catalogue.

I think we'd all chuck different games in to the mix, no-one is ever going to agree with any list made.

Personal favorites you'd like to see included or moved up MUCH higher? Id place Starfox 64 and Pokemon R/S much higher, special import mention for Ouendan (in my all time top 20) and Gregory Horror Show on PS2 deserves to be in the top 50 IMO.

I second the Gregory Horror Show vote, but I'd stay place Link To the Past way, way, way, way, way above Ocarina of Time. And Mario 64 wouldn't be in my Top 100 at all. I just can't agree with a game that stole 2D away from my beloved heterosexual plumber. He's never been the same since

Link to The Past vs Ocarina of Time is a hard choice indeed, id like to say Ocarina, but LTTP has had me go back and play it through again many more times which should probably tell me something. plus i played it smack bang in the middle of my childhood and it exaggerates the 'magic' of a game due to the reactive and wistful imagination of children. it was 2d but in my head it was like playing a LOTR film or something :D

should i be shot for saying Body Harvest would easily make my top 50?
