  1. ^ thanks for the heads up, ive sort of been keeping an eye on them think they were a little cheaper last week, cant remember how much though, and the 5700X3D just came out which is cheaper and looks pretty good too. I am tempted but keep spending money on other stuff, need to save for a few months i think!
  2. oh yeah i need to get a post in here to keep updating, pretty behind on tracking this stuff, not finished updating last years thread yet Jan: densha de go switch £50 f1 2021 (£5 existing credit) always surrender £3 feb: beat saber dlc £30
  3. iirc my top 3 from the vote were: - dodonpachi dai ou jou - because it's the best port of one of the best games/bullet hell shmups there is, relentlessly brutal, amazing music, what's not to like. well the new modes weren't as good is i was hoping - well they were good but silly massive difficulty spike on the last boss but whatever. - hifi rush - this has it's problems, like the levels were too long, but man it's so good, probably the first beat-em-up i've been able to play on harder difficulties with dodging/blocking/parrying and whatnot, great music, great graphics, great characters, some of the boss battles are amazing. - pikmin 4 - slow start but a long game where the credits come about half way through and the best stuff is in the second half of the game. there were so many great games last year imo could easily replace those with other stuff, like zelda, bomb rush cyberfunk, star wars jedi something, ghostrunner 2, cyberpunk dlc, mario wonder, samba de amigo vr. and stuff i didn't get round to playing yet which i recon i'll also really like like talos principal 2 and re4.
  4. time for a pc upgrade https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/asrock-b760m-pg-sonic-wifi-ddr5-pcie-5-lga1700-4291312 more seriously i would like an upgrade, a 5800x3d and 4070 super would be nice but i don't know, pretty pricy, would have to stop buying too many games to justify the cost

^ i saw a video preview thing and (don't take this as definitely true but) it did look like an RB style strum bar (soft/quiet). i don't mind either type personally. (edit - i'm talking about differences between RB and GH guitars, Maryokutai is talking about differences between gh3 and ghwt which i'm not that up on) i'll get a new guitar definitely, as a backup. another edit - i think if you've already exported other games to work with RB3 then those songs will still work with RB4, but if you didn't export RB3 then it may well be too late for those songs.
  6. someone on rllmuk made a shmup and it's pretty good fun and very cheap if anyone wants to check it out. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1434200/Always_Surrender/ I'm still playing dodonpachi DOJ but just once a week so not making much progress, but it's still awesome fun.

That sucks. would have been well up for a new deus ex game too.
  8. Ive been playing this quite a lot, sort of completed the main game, well seen the credits, but theres loads of stuff to do still, lots more side missions and arcade mode. tried some of the older games on ps2, one i tried you control train type stuff like trams and have to stop at traffic lights and people cross in front of you, i struggled with this one, wasnt sure where i was supposed to stop or what was going on but only had a quick go mind. Also tried final which made more sense as it was more similar to the modern one, but only had a quick go.
  9. Yeah depends on the game though, arcade/racing/rhythm games dont need a story, but if im playing an rpg or something like that like a yakuza game like Andy already mentioned im probably playing more for the story because im not so into fighting and turn based combat stuff., so if the story is good it makes a big difference to my enjoyment. Also i dont know if this fits in but it doesnt always have to be the main story but if the writing and interactions/side story/comedy stuff like that is good then that can make a good game too. Dont think i answered last weeks but yeah i play old games sometimes, they can still be really good.
  10. i really liked the cyberpunk anime too. and the music. manga is books.
  11. Ah thats cool, might give it a try at some point.
  12. ^ oh thats cool, does final have the finger pointing stuff? Seen that theres a fan translation of final on the pc, was thinking about trying to install that.
  13. ^ i'm still not convinced by oled for monitors, so if QDoled is worse for burn in i'll definitely avoid that!
  14. mine need repairing with that conductive foam or something for connection issues? but i barely use them so been pretty lazy about sorting it. think i'd prefer to do it myself in case nintendo send me some replacements in bad condition or something.
  15. yeah i definitely want to go back too, it's not too far for me but also not really close either, was saying i'd like to go once a month, although that probably won't happen.
  16. ^ we did go to arcade club the other day, i thought it was great! Played loads of stuff - mission impossible, hotd, outrun 2, sega rally, initial d, beatmania, some sort of slide dancing game, crimzon clover, ketsui, tank tank tank, and loads of other stuff. The feedback from the chair on tank tank tank was nuts, im not sure that passes health and safety checks, when you fire the cannon it slams you back and forwards, i was finding gattling gun pickups to give my back a rest.
  17. Its a game where you drive a train. Got this recently on switch, was previously sort of interested in trying the ps4 version, which supports VR so thats cool, but didnt get round to it. And sort of though i might find playing it really boring. Not really sure where my interest in this came from, saw some youtube videos on it and wanted to try it. have been enjoying it, its not the most amazingly exciting thing ever, struggle to explain why im enjoying it but think it helps that its something a bit different and new, to me anyway - thats what i was thinking after the first few missions. Later i got to the 3rd set of missions which are much more involved, with more speed check areas where they try and catch you out like by putting a high speed limit check just before a stop or reduced speed limit, its much more action packed, been really enjoying this set of missions. the main thing to do in the game is stop at the right position at the next station, this is worth the most points etc, and im rubbish at it. But im quite good at doing the extra stuff like arriving on time, dimming lights for other trains, and beeping and pointing at all sorts of stuff. Theres a point button. As in finger pointing. Apparently train drivers are supposed to point at things (and say a catchphrase) to keep them more engaged and stop them from falling asleep or something. i think it helps that this is more arcady than a full on train sim, and the line choice of the tokyo ring road (yamanote line) so has loads of stops and scenery and stuff to do. There never seems to be more than 2 mins between stops. anyone else played one of these? i could find a useful video explaining it better or something but heres this instead

You could transfer licenses to some extent as i have a shed load of songs on rb4 but most are from previous games/dlc purchased on 360 games, that was all so long ago i cant remember how it works now mind. yeah i didnt realise they were still releasing dlc, will have a look through see if theres anything i want to get.
  19. Yeah this does seem like a really long game, not sure how long ive been playing but wouldnt be surprised if it was 40-50 hours or so. Often i might be wanting the game to end at this point but still really enjoying this one, happy for it to continue for now. I have done quite a lot of extra stuff too. It does a lot of stuff really well - the exploration, puzzles, combat, platforming, set pieces, graphics, sound all done really well. The combat is good but think its going for a dark souls lite style or something, where id prefer it if i could block/dodge whenever rather than waiting for previous attacks to finish.

cheers ill keep an eye on it, not usually into old shmups but a modern take could be good.
  23. Started this over the xmas break, took a little getting into but really enjoying it now, not surprising as i liked the first one and this is supposed to be better.
  24. I wonder if i liked it more because of nostalgia or the music/graphics, hard to say. Or maybe i had low expectations after playing jsr(f) quite recently. i ended up playing for maybe 10 hours more after finishing the game, doing the high five challenges, unlocking extra characters etc, a lot of that stuff is not well signposted and the map is not easy to navigate for post credits stuff so i was following youtube guides a lot.
