  1. here's my list: and i'm sure this is the only listing thing in history that everyone will agree on
  2. i thought rearmed was ace, but mainly for the challenge rooms, less so for the main game.
  3. yeah that's a good point, lots of games do that sort of thing too, like hammer a button to move a crate or turn a valve, hardly game-braking (so don't worry too much Sam) but odd and a bit pointless. i wonder why they do it? convention? or maybe to try to stop the player getting bored during the cool but far too long (maybe for loading?) grate opening animation or something?
  4. only played it for 30 mins so haven't got very far but agree about the graphics, it looks really nice, the people look odd but odd in a good way if that makes any sence. liked the combat too with the cool slow-mo moves and stuff. only thing that seemed odd was having to press X to pick up the green question marks, no big deal though, they seem to be like the orbs in crackdown, hidden all over the place. good fun so far

    Mirror's Edge

got the ps3 version of this yesterday for the free dlc, it's just 9 new time trials (and another ps3 exclusive one to bring it to 10 i think?), the levels are really abstract and look great, really great. i had good fun going through them trying to get 1 star on each one but if that's all you want then it's a bit short lived, took about 2 hours total. if i wanted any more stars then it's going to take a lot longer mind. basically it's good stuff, but not sure it would be worth the 800 points it costs on the 360 unless you're going to put some time in to get all the stars
  6. just been watching some of these, it's a pretty worrying stuff
  7. oddly i've just been doing the same thing , listening to thoes idle thumbs podcasts while playing trials! gradius v on xbla would be all kinds of awesome on galaga legions - i haven't played this for ages but think the lines come up are the path the baddies will take and they come in the same order as the lines too, but often there's so many lines at the same time it's a pretty useless indication and you need to remember what's going to happen. the game is all about the option placement, get it right and it makes things a lot easier, think there was some runs through on youtube that might help. hammered this when it came out, brilliant game but i've not been back to it much. i'm in a non-shooter-playing mood at the moment, tried one the other night and wasn't feeling the fun at all, hope it passes before the tournament, either way it will pass.
  8. listened to my first non mfgamers podcast's last week, idle thumbs and giant bomb, both as recommended here, thought idle thumbs was pretty funny so will check out the new ones of that, didn't enjoy the bombcast as much but it was ok, don't have much time to listen to them though so don't think this will be a regular thing.
  9. well it sounded like a dig to me. but maybe that's because i can hear the hatred in your voice every time you mention halo, unclear i know we've probably had this conversation before but i still don't understand how you can play stuff like red steel, the conduit, resistance, but seemingly refuse to play halo? i think you normaly blame the art style of it? which is a bit like a comic book i guess. and it's fair enough to not like it, but you seem to hate it so much, why? i believe you've barely played 3?
  10. i believe you implied they are milking it. you do it so much you don't even notice!
  11. this is thief 3 isn't it? never got into this one for some unknown reason, despite playing 1 and 2 on the pc loads, great games they were, although i was too crap to complete them. i'd like go back to this and give it another try. think there is a roumered (sp!?) thief 4 maybe?
  12. good podcast as usual shame about the uncalled for halo bashing

    Trials HD

yeah that bit is a nightmare, took me hours, only did it in the end with pure luck. did see a tip on another forum that helped me with similar stuff on different levels though so that might help here too, when you're going up the hill, leaning forward, as you're about to take off (not quite sure on the timing) quickly let go of the stick and then lean forward again straight away. after doing that level again last night i realise i was talking bollocks, that ^ doesn't help at all with the first bit on KOTH, sorry. not got any real plan for it just wheele a bit, wiggle the stick and hope for the best
  14. i'd add a mode to forza that makes the online side of things fun and hastle free - by adding basic upgrades/tuning so the cars are fun to drive but the same for everyone. basically pgr, but with forza handling and proper tracks, it'd be flipping brilliant. (hopes forza 3 has a similar mode)
  15. been mainly playing trials HD, which was a big surprise how good it is, think Hendo said it's up there for GOTY so far and i agree. been playing it loads, starting out its quite easy and you breeze through the easy levels, but it gets gradually harder till extreme which is a bit crazy, but the difficulty curve is great and you can always go back to earlier tracks to improve your time/get better medals, you get better without realising it similar to guitar hero 2. and it's maddeningly addictive on multiple fronts, trying to beat friends times, get medals, get 0 faults and the mini games! amazing game played shadow complex too, which also surprised me as i was never convinced i'd like 2d metroid type gameplay, but i enjoyed this, only on easy though, could see some problems which might have annoyed me if it had been harder. however the plot is bolocks, funny that it's apparently based on a novel and they seem to make a big deal about it. whoever wrote that novel probably plays a lot of videogames. dirt 2 demo is really good - been playing it quite a bit considering it's a demo, it seems like a big improvement over the first game which had slightly dodgy handling. the online mode in the demo works really well too. also been playing rock band and halo as normal.
  16. completed this the other night (on easy mode), very enjoyable, much better than expected. will probably try out the challenge rooms but won't be playing through the main game again in a hurry.

^ box on slope bit? the 3rd extreme level is easier than the second imo. that replay is ace, bet that's how the top dudes do it, jumping straight onto the second ball and hitting that glass rail thing must have saved you loads of time - kick ass! finally got the gold on the level i was stuggling on, more retries than before makes it sort of seem pointless though.

the dirt 2 demo is pretty good, handling in the rally style event seems much improved over the first game

nice work hendo/ildog i'm still stuck on the same level, i can't help trying it over and over again

i got the lost planet demo last night but tbh probably won't ever play it :? looking forward to the dirt demo today though.
  21. yeah i've heard that's how it works, tis rubbish. got the zombie game today, paid the 80 points, good fun. also tried the dot/bitstream game and it seemed good (very polished, great presentation) but 400 points so i din't buy it, might do later though.
  22. i agree with the bad points like the shooting into the background, and when you enter a room there's often baddies shooting at you that you can't see, and i'll add another, some stuff in the foreground looks like you can jump on it but you can't, like some of the pipes make it so you can't see the edge of the platform, nothing too frustrating so far though. anyway, still quite enjoying it and think it was a good choice for my first game of this type. i'm sure castlevania and metroid games are better but this has a stupidly easy mode where it tells you pretty much exactly where to go, which is stopping me getting annoyed and keeping it fun. the plot is rediculous. one of the puzzles with the foam/grenades was cool too. and i like kicking the robots for some reason.
  23. good call on pacman CE. omega 5 and galaga legions are good and dlc only

it's definitely up there for me too. really wasn't expecting it to be so good. but i think i need to take a break from it for my sanity, been trying to get a gold medal on this track on hard for the last few nights and it's driving me a bit mad now.
