  1. Yeah i remember finding this really hard, cant remember if i ever finished it
  2. gta is the game that usually gets me on the hype. i usually finish games as i usually play stuff i know i'll like, although sometimes keep playing even if i'm not enjoying them too much, think if i'm really hating something i'll quit though.

    Splatoon 3

not really enjoying the dlc, the harder missions can be sort of fun but i keep dying on them and having to go right back to the start. i'll keep trying it a bit more i think see if i get into it but yeah initial impressions are it's not for me. i'm not really into rogue like stuff but did like the returnal dlc which is sort of similar.
  4. i keep thinking about getting some of these but they're pretty expensive and i guess i also think with older stuff like megadrive, snes, gba, i'm ok with emulating stuff that's gone too expensive/no other way of playing.
  5. Oh man posting pc’s seems like a nightmare, especially with how big and heavy graphics cards are now, hope it survives
  6. got a train controller thing for this, the controller is nice, well made, like an arcade stick but for controlling trains. then as i had the controller some other games on switch support it so got one of those too (real pro nagoya version or something like that), and while it looks nice as its a like a video recording you control, its a bit boring compared to the densha de go one. Also played final some more, dont think it has the pointing, but it does have the speed challenges and blowing the horn at stuff, so its more interesting than that other switch one. I think the first one i got is still the best one ive played though. oh and tried the one on gamepass but the first thing you do is walk around a car park fps style so quit that, didnt get to the train driving.
  7. Thats great news about pc support, i would have got one if theyd announced that sooner, as it is i got a quest instead, no regrets though the quest seems really good.
  8. haha, thanks Maf! everyones picked some great games to be fair
  9. microsoft do love changing the names of things for no apparent reason
  10. My go to suggestions for vr are beat saber and pistol whip but like you say if youre eventually getting a quest 3 maybe better to get them on that.
  11. Yeah im interested if there are any improvements to the dungeons, or if there is at least some non dungeon stuff to do along with the big dungeon grind sections? i can say the older versions the dungeons are very much like the p4 ones, possibly even more boring and bland. If youre into dungeon grinding sessions the old game is probably fine but im mainly playing for the story and there are large parts of the game where no story stuff happens and you just do the dungeon stuff for ages, made it really difficult for me to get through. I always say this but i think the old versions of p3 theres a good game in there but the pacing/how the story/dungeon stuff is split up is really bad. So hopefully this new version is that good game. people seem to be really enjoying this, so i probably will give it a try at some point.
  12. Yeah same boring answer of the first rocksteady batman game and the first insomniac spiderman game for me. That gotg game does the characters really well imo, not sure i can explain it too well its more the dialogue thats good rather than the story as far as i remember, nice graphics too, i didnt think the combat was too bad, but found the puzzle sections really boring. Only got half way through, not sure why as overall i was enjoying it.

    The Manga Thread

yeah i think i said the same about the anime of one piece, i like the idea of reading/watching it but it's too long. the one in the bottom left of that grid is 20th century boys, been trying to read it, well read most of it about 6 months ago but stopped for some reason on the last book, just started again last week, starting on the second to last one to try and help remember what is going on, it's been mostly very good to be fair, im just not sure i'm cut out for reading stuff, i'm pretty slow getting round to it and forget what was going on, who everyone is etc. hopefully will get that last book finished soon-ish. maybe try something shorter next time.
  14. no idea what my first capcom game was, copied off you guys and put streetfighter 2, and it probably was. my comments for capcom - get M2 to make a shottriggers version of progear, thanks!
  15. ^ the rally game in that collection looks interesting. i thought the same about all the colours in that always surrender game, until id played it, turning the background off helps, i found it to be fine as you just have to avoid everything except the medals. I ended up playing it quite a lot, about 5 hours, i like it, its sort of like a vertical shmup take on geometry wars, each game is really quick and theres a few different modes, or really what reminds me of geometry wars is the pacifist mode.
  16. For some reason im into train games now so will try that train world 4.
  17. ^ thanks for the heads up, ive sort of been keeping an eye on them think they were a little cheaper last week, cant remember how much though, and the 5700X3D just came out which is cheaper and looks pretty good too. I am tempted but keep spending money on other stuff, need to save for a few months i think!
  18. oh yeah i need to get a post in here to keep updating, pretty behind on tracking this stuff, not finished updating last years thread yet Jan: densha de go switch £50 f1 2021 (£5 existing credit) always surrender £3 feb: beat saber dlc £30
  19. iirc my top 3 from the vote were: - dodonpachi dai ou jou - because it's the best port of one of the best games/bullet hell shmups there is, relentlessly brutal, amazing music, what's not to like. well the new modes weren't as good is i was hoping - well they were good but silly massive difficulty spike on the last boss but whatever. - hifi rush - this has it's problems, like the levels were too long, but man it's so good, probably the first beat-em-up i've been able to play on harder difficulties with dodging/blocking/parrying and whatnot, great music, great graphics, great characters, some of the boss battles are amazing. - pikmin 4 - slow start but a long game where the credits come about half way through and the best stuff is in the second half of the game. there were so many great games last year imo could easily replace those with other stuff, like zelda, bomb rush cyberfunk, star wars jedi something, ghostrunner 2, cyberpunk dlc, mario wonder, samba de amigo vr. and stuff i didn't get round to playing yet which i recon i'll also really like like talos principal 2 and re4.
  20. time for a pc upgrade https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/asrock-b760m-pg-sonic-wifi-ddr5-pcie-5-lga1700-4291312 more seriously i would like an upgrade, a 5800x3d and 4070 super would be nice but i don't know, pretty pricy, would have to stop buying too many games to justify the cost

    Rock Band 4

^ i saw a video preview thing and (don't take this as definitely true but) it did look like an RB style strum bar (soft/quiet). i don't mind either type personally. (edit - i'm talking about differences between RB and GH guitars, Maryokutai is talking about differences between gh3 and ghwt which i'm not that up on) i'll get a new guitar definitely, as a backup. another edit - i think if you've already exported other games to work with RB3 then those songs will still work with RB4, but if you didn't export RB3 then it may well be too late for those songs.
  22. someone on rllmuk made a shmup and it's pretty good fun and very cheap if anyone wants to check it out. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1434200/Always_Surrender/ I'm still playing dodonpachi DOJ but just once a week so not making much progress, but it's still awesome fun.

    Random News II

That sucks. would have been well up for a new deus ex game too.
  24. Ive been playing this quite a lot, sort of completed the main game, well seen the credits, but theres loads of stuff to do still, lots more side missions and arcade mode. tried some of the older games on ps2, one i tried you control train type stuff like trams and have to stop at traffic lights and people cross in front of you, i struggled with this one, wasnt sure where i was supposed to stop or what was going on but only had a quick go mind. Also tried final which made more sense as it was more similar to the modern one, but only had a quick go.
  25. Yeah depends on the game though, arcade/racing/rhythm games dont need a story, but if im playing an rpg or something like that like a yakuza game like Andy already mentioned im probably playing more for the story because im not so into fighting and turn based combat stuff., so if the story is good it makes a big difference to my enjoyment. Also i dont know if this fits in but it doesnt always have to be the main story but if the writing and interactions/side story/comedy stuff like that is good then that can make a good game too. Dont think i answered last weeks but yeah i play old games sometimes, they can still be really good.
