  1. I played Spark Electric Jester and the sequel. The first is a 2d Sonic style game, the second a 3d style one, which is a nice touch. I didn't enjoy the 2nd anything like as much as the 1st, but it wasn't terrible, I liked it at points
  2. I try to finish stuff where I can, I think it's just been drilled in to me over the years. Cocoon is probably the most recent one, at no point would I say that I was enjoying it, but I wanted to tick it off. It was useful to see the game come together. I'm not enjoying Dave the Diver, but I'm going to chip away at it (played it a bit this morning in fact), granted I wouldn't do that for a game as long as Yakuza I don't think It pays off sometimes too, I wasn't loving Doom Eternal but I loved it when I went back
  3. Did I post the fan theory I saw for the remake trilogy? Spoilers obviously, and this is basically self harm because I've not played the original, but
  4. Yeah, I have a cart that let's me play Saturn backups, time willing I'd be using that for translations etc
  5. I disagree but it's not worth an argument. The Switch is old as fuck at this point, it's amazing how long it's lasted, especially as it was effectively a generation behind when it launched
  6. Nope. Tempting though. There's not a huge amount left I want for the Mega Drive but for the handful there is (I've not got that big a MD collection) it's better than spending £30-50 for really common games
  7. I know it was a partner direct, although Nintendo's own are filled with old games too 🙂 It felt to me like they should have launched the next console with Zelda last year. This all just feels like a holding pattern where we all know it's coming, 3rd parties are starting to leave it behind, and Nintendo are moving their serious efforts elsewhere. I'm honestly not sure why they bothered with this direct
  8. I thought the Direct was really poor. They need a Switch follow up soon just to freshen things up. When you're porting old Battlefront games you know you're struggling. Epic Mickey being described as a classic is certainly a bold claim, and it looked rough too, weirdly framey for what was a Wii game. I was going to post that at least there was Shin Megami, but from reading the thread it's just 5 with added content?
  9. Boltgun and Maneater are both fun. Maneater needs about another 100 patches, just I loved it on PS5
  10. I accidentally volleyed my PS5 across the room (it went about 3 inches because they're really fucking heavy), so I've had to splash out on a replacement, and got the slim. Sorry, the "slim" version.

Maybe the basis for a question in the other thread, but I found her saying that really odd. We're never getting a leap like the 16 bit to 32 bit generation again. We're not even getting the N64 to Dreamcast. Maybe we'll be getting full path traced games, but as you said, who is making them?
  12. We still get a few... Lucy, Jolt and Kate spring to mind, I get what they're saying though. time for a Barbwire reboot. Genuinely, I enjoyed Gunpowder Milkshame, and Atomic Blonde. Salt was alight I suppose Going back to the movie star question. The lad from Dune might be getting there because he keeps picking interesting films, if not because he necessarily stands out in them (he's a good actor, he just isn't instantly apparent). The ones we seem to have now, the heir apparent to the likes of Arnie and Tom Cruise, it's Jason Statham isn't it? You know what you're getting with him, and chances are it's going to be watchable, even in poor films he's a fun watch. Stupid films, but watchable. It could have been The Rock, but he just stars in dreadful films.

it seems like they're conflating a bunch of separate points to me. Microsoft owning a load of publishers/studios, Microsoft potentially eventually going fully 3rd party, and Sony's current lineup. I don't think Sony making smaller games was what made the PS4 a success, I think Last of Us on PS3 setting the tone for that narrative style probably set up PS4 more (and then Microsoft fucking up), I feel like quirky Sony hasn't existed since then. I do agree Sony could do with putting out some smaller things just to have more things out. There's an Astrobot game coming, so that sort of thing, maybe they feel like they don't need it because 3rd party games can cover that niche, but I always think leaning on a small selection of games is a massive risk. Ubisoft are finding that out now Sony (or people that only own PS5) are going to miss some of the games Microsoft now own, but if some of them do end up PS5 then obviously that's less of an issue. It's also this next batch that are the ones people might be interested in. I think people can live without Grounded and Sea of Thieves, Starfield didn't seem to hit like people expected at the start of the generation. Indianna Jones I think people are actually going to be envious of that one For me, I'm on PC, so if I wanted to play these games I can. I even have Game Pass through my phone contract, so I can play all of it, but I dunno. I'm not really sure I quite get their point, which might be me just not getting it, but it feels like Sony and Nintendo have the console war (such as it is) sewn up, which is why Microsoft are trying new things. Sony might be about to face some consequences, but it's not entirely their fault, they tried stopping the merger, it's just capitalism being what it is, motivated by greed to the point of self harm
  14. cross saves on Steam? I think pretty much every game does it now. Looking at their FAQ it says it's down to the devs, but I haven't played anything on the Steam Deck that doesn't back up to the cloud when I exit. It should really just be on by default, all the platforms offer it, so I don't see a reason why they can't just mandate it
  15. I don't think a significant portion of people are buying it just for phones. It's additive, which is no bad thing if you're paying for it already, and from experience it's not great unless you have a pad or adapter thing. I'm sure people use it though, like I said, I tried it, but I don't think they're paying for it for that use, as in without Xbox or PC, just for phones, and I don't think that's a particularly controversial take?

    Playdate

Ha ha, I saw that it's now in stock as standard. I've not used mine much recently. Honestly, mostly because of the lack of a backlight
  17. On the cross play stuff, I was thinking about this while watching the podcast (via Vinny from Nextlander playing Cyberpunk). The difference between Sony and Microsoft is that Sony don't have their own PC store, and maybe never will. You get Xbox games because of the Microsoft store on pc, Xbox is an app there. You don't get a Steam key when you buy an MS game on Xbox. It's good that they do it, but I don't think they could get away with not doing it It would be nice to have the option of saves across everything, all games on all platforms. That's where we should get to On the multi platform stuff, it's what I think most of us expected, suitably vague that they can do more if they want in future. I half suspect that we might see some bigger titles in the next couple of years if Microsoft's numbers don't improve. As much as they bigged it up, people aren't paying for GP to play streamed on their phone. They might use it as a perk I guess, but that's no ones primary way to play games
  18. It looks comfortable tbf
  19. I suppose now it's out there from someone else, I can say that I also heard separately that there's a new Astrobot game coming 🙊
  20. I've just kicked my PS5 I'm so angry
  21. Mission Impossible - arcade House of the Dead Scarlet Dawn - arcade Robocop Rogue City - PC Cocoon - PC Like a Dragon Gaiden - PC Sonic Superstars - PS5 Silent Hill The Short Message - PS5
  22. I've yet to play a Mario rpg I haven't thought got incredibly dull. A combination of Nintendo's drawn out hand holding and needless run time makes them unplayably boring after 10 hours or so to me
  23. Today's the day, right? I still think it's just some of their smaller, and live service stuff going over
  24. Tbf, they've had Insomniac release a bunch of games, Naughty Dog are clearly having issues, it's not been even 2 years since Grant Turismo or God of War, and that Samurai game from the other year might need time to step up for a sequel. There are rumours of something coming from their 1st parties, but I don't think it's a sign of anything other than them not having loads of studios and games taking longer
