  1. Nice! Are those archived anywhere after the fact? I assume he’s doing Twitch streams?
  2. Ah, complete remake makes more sense. That does look cool and I’m a big fan of the first 4. The Underground ones were ok but the first real sign of running low on ideas.
  3. I was just reading about him texting people about it before it was officially announced, which is weird. Wasn’t the HD version a few years back essentially this? I seem to remember it having maps from both games in it.
  4. What’s in the paths to the right? Gardens or a small tree farm?
  5. Here’s my (mostly) finished island. All the residents live on their own estate. Between their houses and mine is a load of stuff like a fountain, well, swimming pool, etc. The land is divided into 3 vertical levels. The middle dividing line of water, everything below that is ground level. Above and to the left is a level above. On the right is the level above. All 3 levels have a massive orchard. The thin strips of green to the sides are filled with flowers and tree stumps for bugs. The green rectangle to the right of the museum is where the stones and fossils mostly appear, with a slight chance of them appearing on the east coast. Currently I’m replacing the old cheap bridges with the better suiting rock bridges that match the stone inclines and stone paths better. After that, there isn’t much more for me to do. Every time I do an evaluation now they give me 3 stars and tell me there are too many trees, but right now I’m not that bothered about it and would rather have the money that comes from them. Maybe when the final mortgage is paid off, I’ll cut them down a bit and work on getting a 5 star island.
  6. That looks similar, but apparently they used this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-lunar_injection I don’t know what the real difference is, or if one is a version of the other by a different name.
  7. Other than the comedy film, I have no clue what inner space travel is. Is there a difference? The thing that surprised me, as it’s not something I’ve ever looked into or thought about, is how they get the momentum to launch towards the moon. I always assumed it was a simple case of launch up and keep going towards the moon. The reality is that they went up and then stayed in orbit of the earth and essentially went round the earth a couple of times to build up the momentum and speed to finally break out of orbit, leave the earth properly and get into the moon’s orbit and land.
  8. Watched Have A Good Trip last night, which is a documentary on people’s experiences on LSD, both positive and negative. All famous people I think. I was most surprised by Sting being on it, though in hindsight, it does make some sense that he would be big into those kind of drugs. Best bit for me was a guy saying that movies and TV always portray trips badly, but then one movie got it right. Just as I was thinking which film I would say got it right, he said the same one. I also watched Apollo 11 on there last night and it’s incredible. All old footage never seen before, apart from an animation showing how the parts of the craft would break apart which I would assume is new, but is simple enough that I could also believe that it was made in the ‘60’s. I was watching while high as fuck so I spent most of my time trying to figure out whether some parts were recreated or not. Like one part you see the craft perfectly in frame as it screams toward the sky. I was trying to decide whether it was an impressive zoom, a second rocket that went up just to film the original or a modern recreation shot. There was at least one moment where I learned something about space travel that surprised the fuck out of me.

    Nintendo News

Out in less than a month and I’ve pre-ordered and pre-downloaded it. Anyone gonna be joining me for high stakes ludo action?
  10. I finished the other day with a mate online, on normal. We used a guide to find the hidden stages. Nice idea, but very underwhelming. I’ll go through on my own on Easy at some point and then work my way through the difficulties. I think they did a pretty good job, but I think Normal should’ve been called Hard as everyone seems to agree that it’s harder than the originals.
  11. Dirt paths, yes. I swapped out the dirt paths for wooden paths instead and now nothing will appear on them, bar wood sticks that fall from the trees. There’s a relatively small square of land where most of the rocks and fossils appear, a small strip near the sea also has fossils and rocks appear. I have 3 massive orchards that make a ton of money now. One on the ground floor, one a floor up and then a third on the highest ground you can make that is walkable. Spent a fortune on turnips this week so if anyone has anything like 150 or above, please let me know!
  12. I got my fruit forests up and running now, only one left to finish planting. Making a ton of money each day and dirt paths between every tree so nothing (fossils, weeds, stones, etc) can appear there. It’s put me down to a 3 star island but according to the recommendations, I need to put up some fencing to make it better.

    That looks so fucking good.
  14. I want all of those features, that’s amazing work. I really hope Nintendo are paying attention, but unlikely.

    Apple TV+

I got a years sub in January with my home internet deal, along with the Apple TV box. The box is the least used of my 4 HDMI ports and I’ll give the shows more of a try as the year continues but at this point I’m not that bothered about keeping it. I started watching For All Mankind which is good but I only got a few episodes in, will have to continue at some point. There’s a Beastie Boys documentary on there, directed by Spike Jonze which I might watch before bed tonight. On the whole I’ve been surprised how little effort they’ve given it. I was expecting big things and some shocking purchases, like how Epic did stuff with their game store.
  16. Thanks for the cash! I also saw my first scorpion but the bastard got me and never saw one again.
  17. Aha, that sounds good, though I will also pop over to yours and drop off some cherries.
  18. Looks good. Proper alternative AOC in there, too.
  19. I might have some in storage if none has grown back yet. I used a load the other day to grow 3 different fields of fruit trees, I’ll find something!
  20. Oh yes! I won’t be home till after 7pm but if you’re available between half 7 and 10 then that’ll be sweet!

    Disney+

No Spider-man, no Hulk, most of the others. There are Spidey stuff on there, but none of the Sony films.

    Star Wars

I finished Mandolorian yesterday, thought it was excellent and I have faith in Waititi as his work is usually top notch. Not related to today’s date, but as my tea cooks, I’ve decided to finally boot up Solo and see if it’s as average/dull as I’ve been told it is.
  23. Put 100,000 into turnips today, I only need a better price than 100, so should be fine, but if anyone gets a good price through the week, let me know! My island renovation project is most of the way done. I got a couple of full gardens and 5 separate sections to grow fruit so (in theory) there should be a massive orchard to harvest and sell every day. As far as I can make out, fruit grows every 3 days, but I also read that it’s only 3 days for local fruit - non-native fruit takes 5 days? Not sure, but should be fine either way. Once all the trees are fully grown, I’ll be filling in every space so no weeds, stones or fossils can appear there. I’m leaving a relatively small square of land to the side of the shops for those things to appear, and if I need space for more shops, as is rumoured.
  24. Nine years later, these first impressions hold up. It still looks terrible. Not sure whether they did any work to the visuals but it looks just as bad as it did back then. You can change any of the button configurations, which may have been in the original, can’t remember, which is good as I switched round a couple. Not sure I’ll finish it for a second time, but I have fond memories of the game as a whole, despite all the technical shitness of it, and still the closest you’ll get at a decent attempt of Twin Peaks : The Game.
