    Far Cry 5

One of these times I was at an airfield and was just indefinitely holding off wave after wave of hitsquads thanks to my guns for hire. Must have held out a good 10 minutes before finally I accepted they would never stop spawning, so I made a run for a plane. Got hit as I took off, so blacked out as I was already climbing high into the sky. Somehow they must have recovered my sleeping body from the wreckage of the crashed plane, miraculously unhurt!
  3. I got this and played it with 2 friends at the weekend. We started Friday night at about 9pm, didn't stop until 5am, then finished the rest of the game Saturday afternoon. The camera is god-awful, but had an absolute blast playing the game in general!
  4. The Nintendo levels in Mario Maker 2 are good. They're short and gimmicky for the most part yes (I don't think that's a bad thing, gimmicky == inventive, and inventive is Nintendo at their best), but there's 120+ of them. There's a good few hours of content there. The first Mario Maker didn't have anything like the sequel's singleplayer mode so I don't think you can compare (unless you played the 3DS version that did).

    Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 is a really fun game that is adamant in not letting you enjoy it. I loved ordering around the guns to hire to trap a camp in a cross-fire of sniper bullets, or sneaking in alone and taking down every enemy one by one, or releasing a bear right in the middle to cause carnage, or just assaulting a camp head on in a blaze of fury. But for every fun moment of emergent, player directed gameplay, there was another of the game shoving an encounter in my face or literally abducting me into another story mission and shouting ARE YOU ENJOYING OUR GAME YET at me. You can't walk 30 meters in Far Cry 5 without an enemy encounter. There is no downtime, you're never free to just explore, up until the point where you clear an area of all enemies and that exploring becomes pointless. It's one extreme or the other, never a happy medium. I liberated two of the areas in the game then dropped it in the third, because the relentless interruptions from the game just got too much. It's silly how unconfident the game is in its own systems, it really shoots itself in the foot. Which is a shame because I think it's great otherwise!
  6. I'm waiting on the console release, which is still "coming soon"
  7. A quick search tells me you can change the camera to isometric ("classic"): https://twinfinite.net/2019/07/marvel-ultimate-alliance-3-change-camera-angle-how/ Sounds like it might help a few of you. There's no lock-on in classic view for example.
  8. I thought you could choose between the classic isometric camera or free-control camera? In local co-op at least it has to be isometric, right?
  9. £40 in Sainsburys and Argos
  10. I'll give these a play and follow you as a creator tonight! I only got this last night and spent most of my time so far making my first level (KYM-RJP-J2G for anyone interested), so I'm going to properly get into the story levels later as they do seem good and inventive, as you say. Over on GRcade there is a webpage/tool for sharing levels, if you're interested: grcade.co.uk/mariomakers/
  11. Tried to pre-order in store on Saturday in GAME, but after initially saying "yeah that should be fine" they were out of stock too :(
  12. Missed it again :( Did preorder the amiibo though from the Nintendo Store. In my frustration I just ordered the Japanese edition with artbook from Play Asia too, as that was available...
  13. I missed it again ;-; I would pay more than £25 for those extras not gonna lie. I /really/ want that art book!
  14. Got this last night, it's great. Definitely one for replaying to chase rankings. I'm also definitely bad at the game, but I still feel like I'm good at it, so that's good design!
  15. Please stop remaking PS1 games with massively long load times Who cares about background visuals just make it load quickly!
  16. Deciding between PS4 and Switch myself, but think I'll have to go with PS4 just because I'm used to it being on PS! I will miss the portability of playing CTR that I had on the PSP and Vita though
  17. Actually I think if someone plays the game for the first time with the DLC it makes for a worse experience (because of the DLC quests clogging things up and the hero's path feature lessening the player's own exploration) :P ...definitely better performance though!
  18. They improved the performance with updates. Kokiri forest was the worst, but in general it ran fine on Switch from release in my experience.
  19. Oh yeah I have The Last Story one. That soundtrack Didn't realise Mario Kart 8 had a special edition. It's just a statue of a blue shell... Any advice on where to keep an eye out for the Link's Awakening one then?
  20. Have there actually been that many first party collector's editions? I'm trying to think of what I've got in the past and mostly it's just been the game with some bonus stuff thrown in from the Nintendo store, like Splatoon 2 with a t-shirt. BOTW had a collector's edition but afaik even Mario Odyssey didn't. Most of what I can find in a search is just game + amiibo or controller. Most recently as an actual Nintendo special edition I think for me would have been Star Fox Zero, because that came with Star Fox Guard, and that was pretty easy to come by. With Zelda specifically it'd be... Skyward Sword? I think the wii motion+ bundle of that is more common than the game alone But yes basically... I need to make sure I get this as Link's Awakening is my favourite game!
  21. Didn't realise the collector's edition had gone up for sale D: I was sort of assuming I'd just be able to order it way closer to release...
  22. PS4 I haven't played the battle royale mode yet, I've still not fully explored the map in the main game (although I'm very close now as I'm in the last region) so I don't want to go there in another mode before exploring it properly - as the map and exploring it is one of the strongest things in the game for me.
  23. The survival aspects are much more flavour than actual concern, I've played for ~300 hours and ran out of food... once? And I've never run out of water - if anything I am always selling excess. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. Ammunition for the stronger guns can be harder to come by, but that seems fair in terms of balance and having you not just use your most powerful weapon all the time. The card perks system I think is really good and I definitely prefer it to Fallout 4. Being able to re-class (within your SPECIAL stats) by changing up your equipped cards is cool, although that comes in more later on when you have more cards and can viably switch between different perks for different situations. Similarly with VATS, I use it all the time now and it's super useful - but you need to have a decent perception stat (for a decent hit chance) and put some perks into it too (I can target body parts, see damage resistance stats of enemies, and have the mysterious stranger occasionally appear for example). At the start of the game it is absolutely useless, so I think most people dismiss it then never try it again once it actually becomes good.

Never thought about that, but now you've said it it definitely does!
