    Pokémon

Totally agree. If there was one Nintendo game I wish could be on a next gen console with all the cutting edge stuff it would be Pokemon
  2. Some people are mad that Silver Surfer is a girl in the new FF movie https://deadline.com/2024/04/fantastic-four-julia-garner-silver-surfer-1235873034/amp/ Honestly, I don’t like that it’s a girl, either. Gender swap supporting characters is one thing, doing it to main characters, eh But more importantly, Silver Surfer means Galactus, baby 👀

    Readers Feature

I think DD2 and Ronin should both be criticised for their graphics/performance, but for different reasons. DD2 is poorly built, kind of especially on PC (although PC versions are harder to build for because of the wide range of PC’s so there’s some leniency there, but they should still have done a better job) Where as Ronin has less of an excuse because it’s only on one platform (for now) and is no way near in the same league as other PS5 exclusives and such. Not being 1st party there’s going to be differences because of resources etc, but it’s still a very underwhelming game just graphically as well as performance I think the other thing, which is not a good excuse at launch, but DD2 has a good chance of being fixed where as Ronin, I suspect that’s just what it’s going to be Also just quick, VRR won’t do anything for DD2 on console, the frame rate doesn’t get high enough for it to take effect. I get the sense from this and previous posts is you’re just not very sensitive/bothered about FPS performance @Nag which is not a knock, it just comes across that way 👍 I enjoy higher frame rate if possible but I can adjust pretty easily and don’t mind games being 30fps or below. I think people make bigger deal out of that than necessary - sometimes The thing about upgrading PC to solve problems, DD2 doesn’t seem like a hardware problem it’s like a development problem. The game is just not made very well (especially on PC) Also who the fuck is ragging on console players? That’s like rich kid elitist shit. PC gaming is great for high performance and customising an experience, but the drawback to both is having specific problems that are difficult to solve and lack of reliability. The more options/configurations the more chance for problems. Whereas if the console game does not perform well, at least you can be rest assured it’s not performing well for everybody and it’s not your system The last thing as an add on which is funny to me is most people have been playing games at 30fps their entire life and never thought about it. Better performance is better, but the idea that 30fps games are bad when that’s been the experience for the huge majority of console games/gamers in general is - in some cases - people trying to front because DF told them so or are letting the numbers ruin the fun of games At the same time DD2 and Ronin could both be better. It’s not to say they’re in a state where you can’t play them or have fun with them or should let other people complaining about numbers ruin your fun with your games. But, they could be better. both is true at the same time

    Metroid Fusion

I randomly fired this up last night on Switch and got hooked immediately. I’ve completed it twice before, but really don’t remember too much about it. Sometimes Metroidvanias, even if I enjoy them, become really forgettable. Like, ever play a Meteoidvania and try to recall the room you were just in? It’s hard for some reason. So these games blend together sometimes and I only remember the experience overall and not the game specifics All that to say it was like going in fresh again. I forgot how much talking there was, I forgot how in depth the story goes lol. Strong story has never been something I’ve associated with the Metroid series but after Dread and now this, these 2D ones go hard in this shit. Which is funny. I think this game looks super good as well. It’s a really good use of colour and is very striking. Even though Dread looks better technically. Maybe this game has better art. Not sure. Maybe recency bias or something. But it looks awesome. The only thing I really recall from the game is Samus’s new suit and the X Samus (not sure what the real name is) and - it’s not actually creepy - but relative to the fact it’s a GBA game they do a good job of capturing that atmosphere to an extent. The game plays really well, too. Obviously that’s an area where Dread beats it hands down, but this game is easy to start and play without having to think about it or readjust to a 20 year old game. I just got past the bit where I blow up the fans in area 1. I want to play more of I get time because the game is very good. I only put it on randomly and then played it for an hour and got totally absorbed by it

A lot of these corporate Twitter accounts are corny but I like the Devolver Digital one 😆

    PlayStation Plus

No, it’s like 9-12 months after release as far as I can tell.

    PlayStation Plus

I don’t know if it means anything but that’s 2 EA games coming to a subscription service that doesn’t include EA Play before Gamepass is getting the 9-12month after initial release drop. It reads like EA are trying to make moves outside of Xbox and Gamepass. Maybe the conversion of subscription to sale is just that bad

    PlayStation Plus

Playstation is actually getting 2 games on the Extra/Premium tiers day 1 https://www.eurogamer.net/tales-of-kenzera-zau-and-dave-the-diver-hit-playstation-plus-this-month Tales of Kenzera: Zau and Dave the Diver I find it weird that the first game Kenzera is coming to PS+ day 1 given it a EA game, and EA Play is part of Gamepass. For Dave the Diver, as cool as it is it’s day 1 on PS I don’t really want to play 2D pixel art games on a big modern TV. It just doesn’t ‘fit’. As unlikely as it is that these games would get me to sign up to another subscription service, it’s cool that they’re day 1. Maybe things are changing for PS+?
  12. The other day I posted a story about Gamepass having budget cuts *looks at new arrivals* 👀
  13. New arrivals Harold Halibut looks kind of cool actually and Tomb Raider blasting in out of nowhere on PC. I don’t really know what the rest of the games are aside from PGA

    Immortals of Aveum

This game is getting AMD frame generation on console in a few weeks https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2024-immortals-of-aveum-set-to-receive-hdr-and-fsr-3-console-frame-generation I think @one-armed dwarf said that 60fps is not a good target for frame gen or something, so maybe this won’t fix the image quality issues around some console games lately. But still could be a really good first step to at least getting more higher frame rates on the 4k30 modes Maybe keep image quality on the 4k30 modes and let the performance loose with frame gen? Just an idea, I’m not trying to say that will work I only tried AMD frame gen once for Avatar on PC but it seemed really good. The game ran super high performance and there was no noticeable drawback to the image quality as far as I could tell Hopefully this gets into more console games and can help some of the technical limits some games have hit. And we finally be done with FSR2 good lordy that shit is awful
  15. NG+ has gotten stupid What a visual 😄 It's been a while where I've played a game where I'm so OP it's like having cheats on. The second boss in the game is supposed to be a big character moment for a new team member where she uses her unique power to save the team. But 1st move, turn 1 I had Lucifer do Megiadolan had killed both bosses at once haha. It's fun. The first boss on the train I one-shotted, too. Which is extra funny because that boss brings in a time limit to raise the stakes. The whole thing was over in about 10 seconds. This power ruins the story lol. I'm also speeding through as much of the game as I can. Already in July and maxed out 3 social links and just started Fuuka's. So hopefully I'm ahead of the game (no pun intended) in terms of Social Link stuff. Floor 60-something and I've just started to run into bosses who take 2 hits to kill instead of 1. This playthrough is ridiculous, but really fun so far.
  16. Mmm. I do a bad version of this a little bit with Millia against zoners (Axel/Askua) or characters with awkward/good pokes (Faust/Ky) because she’s so fast I send her head first into attacks and it’s hard to react to her own speed. So some characters I just dash block against anyway for safety, regardless of what they’re doing Although I don’t do it like in the video. I do dash macro > FD, but don’t hold the dash button.
  17. I just found this YT channel of this girl playing VGM on Piano. But some of the videos are her reading/hearing the music for the first time. The way it's sort of right then just clicks as she gets it is so cool
  18. Have two achievements left to get so started NG+ I looked up how to fuse Messiah and I could do that right now, however all the social links reset on NG+ so that means there's no bonuses to fusions, either. So guess I'll wait. Thankfully there appears to be no achievements for completing tasks or beating the ultimate boss. Which I'm mixed on. On the one hand thank god, that looks so tough. But also seems a bit of a cop out that one of the few things in the game that could be considered an achievement isn't actually achievement. I might just do it for the fuck of it, depending on how this play through unravels. At least a lot of time will be cut here because of being overpowered. I literally just press start on every fight and one shot everything, including bosses, up until the first barrier. One of the things about NG+ is that all equipment carries over but party levels do not. So my party are low level with end game equipment. I was thinking how that's kind of a pain, but I suppose all I need to do is hit a few of those green level-up doors and they'll go straight to level 90 as well. The only thing I have to consider is the social links. I know the old book couple can be saved until last, since social stats carry over any social links locked behind them I'll be able to do straight away, so I think this should be possible this time (It was probably possible on playthrough 1, I just didn't optimise the time) so I think I can do it.
  19. I was doing it from PC. Now the picture is posted can you copy and paste it in to the spoiler box?
  20. Man What a beautiful game. BOSS SPOILERS - Whooped him. But super cool screenshot STORY SPOILERS I haven't actually cried but almost broke like 3 times so far. I'm so conflicted about the ending both the way they do it in this version, and just the second time around. But I'm drained after all that so that's enough Persona for today
  21. Super Mario RPG (Switch) Alan Wake 2 (PC) Batman: Arkham Knight (PC) Pokemon Violet (Switch) + The Mystery of Area Zero Assassin's Creed Mirage (Xbox) Persona 3 Reload (PC)
  22. Streaming last day of P3 Reload. It’s not over ‘till it’s over
  23. I remember seeing a quote years ago that was like "The most controversial game that never caused any controversy" I'm ready for the finale. When I go in Tatarus there's no backing out I maxed all social links bar 2 96% compendium complete 99/101 tasks completed Managed to grind and get most of the high level weapons Having a break for a bit, then on to the end. Excited to finish, disappointed I didn't get the perfect game, dreading the ending, ready to one-shot this final boss. I remember completing this years ago and the final boss fight was about 4 hours long or something. See if this time it's a bit quicker
  24. Here was an interesting story I saw this week about indie funding via Gamepass and Epic https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/the-gold-rush-is-over-slay-the-spire-and-darkest-dungeon-devs-say-that-big-game-pass-and-epic-exclusive-deals-have-dried-up-for-indie-devs/ I wonder what that means for the budget of Gamepass going forward. Is this finally where the service falls off? I've been saying for ages it's best to make the most of GP in these golden days before they hike the price too high or the quality of the curation drops. Maybe this is the start of it. I wish there were more details on the Gamepass deals for indies. It would be very interesting to see what they used to be.
