  1. Apprently the game uses the Wilhelm Scream. I haven't noticed it, anyone else? I did a bunch of missions in Mexico yesterday. The song and the visuals as you first ride out into the landscape after the ferry mission make for a fantastic moment. So atmospheric. I changed into the Clint Eastwood style poncho as soon as I unlocked it. Perfect.
  2. £594.99 to date. Although £119.99 of that came from vouchers, trade-ins, reward points etc.
  3. I had a look at the map that came in the case and flicked through the manual last night. It fucking stinks.
  4. No need to worry. Seems I haven't got enough reward points.

    Fallout 3

Yeah, those rednecks are tough bastards, the tribals too. Luckily I had a ton of stimpaks and was armed to the fecking teeth going in. Plasma Rifles and Gauss Rifles for medium to long range shots, and Chinese Assault Rifle for up close served me well. Plus I picked up a gattling lazer for the final mission. Also, having the Ghoul Mask and Animal Friend perk meant I only had to worry about fighting humans and Mirelurks.
  6. I had the same problem.
  7. 2-8 is kicking my arse right now. There's a bit descending steps with low walls and meteorite things that keeps catching me. I think the background is a bit too busy on this stage too.
  8. 490 points? That's a weird score. What does that one involve then? I did a whole bunch of Fallout 3 achievements the other day, including the Point Lookout ones, the level 30 Karma achievements. It's a shame there's not one for Still, it makes a good souvenir.
  9. Re: Music Game of the Year - I would have picked Rock Band Unplugged if they had allowed me, but it wasn't in the category. Beatles was the only other one I've played (once).

    Fallout 3

Been wandering around Point Lookout, I like the freaky rednecks. Also: the environment's pretty atmospheric and creepy in places.
  11. You're unlikely to want one of the games they offer every single month, so you either end up getting one you don't really want because you've already paid for it, or pay more on average for the ones you are interested in. It remains to be seen what else is in it to make it worth more than just staying in the free service and buying what you want. I don't know if I'd be convinced to shell out by a streaming music service.
  12. Listened to Joypod 5.22 today, my first time listening to one, which is pretty shameful since I've been aware of the podcast for about 3 years (first heard about it when Britxbox podcast had the same name).
  13. I'm listening to a bunch of episodes of Milton Jones Radio 4 comedy programs: The Very World of Milton Jones, and Another Case of Milton Jones. Excellent, really funny stuff.
  14. I've done the first 11 stages, it's lovely. I love the graphical style, the music, and Pitfall-esque bonus stage. What are your bogey obstacles? I seem to fail to get the right distance on the jump between the floating platforms far too regularly.
  15. Had a blast at the Gnome mutation with Sly last night, it was pretty fun. I voted for Bleed Out in the poll (which mode do you want to see an encore next week).

Those Zombie Cow guys are awesome. I hang around their forum from time to time, so I knew they were doing this project with Channel 4, but no idea it was going to be like this. I can't believe that Microsoft are actually allowing a game with a description like that into the marketplace. The platform holders always seem mega sensitive about anything even tangentially related to sex, let alone "a tiny gang of marines with condoms for head gear as they delve into peoples' vaginas and arses" Also: the backlash has begun (I think) http://www.zombie-cow.com/forum/index.php?topic=2730.0
  17. Can't view the video at work. The Battlefield blog has this to say: It sounds pretty good to me, as long the price is reasonable.
  18. I only just realised the "Follow the Liter" mutation is a pun on "Follow the leader". Silly americans and their crazy spelling of Litre.
  19. Oh dear, this isn't going to end well. They seem to be thrashing about wildly trying to find some way to encourage people to purchase new rather than preowned. This isn't the way though. I predict a massive backlash and this idea will get dropped pretty sharpish for next year.
  20. vg247.com was ridiculous today, 14 articles based off this one announcement. 13 in a row.

    Fallout 3

I have a save waiting for me right at the start of Point Lookout, the only thing stopping me going back in is the prosect of losing another month to the game.
  22. Oh yeah that one. Every time there's a branch, go towards the tick, following whichever colour path the matches the tick, the X leads you to a dead end room.
  23. I had a go with the trial and then ponied up for the full thing. I really like it but I'm proper stuck on the 6th note. It's the levels that introduce the different coloured lines to show you the way, but on the 3rd or 4th level there doesn't seem to be an obviously right exit so it looks like I'm gonna have to randomly pick an exit and fail each time till I get the right one. I got stuck on there for a bit. I think it's the one where the sound of your footsteps highlight a trail in red, but there are gaps in it, which you have to reveal which is the right way by playing the tune with the A button, and they'll be revealed in green.
