  1. I can see myself in a lot of these posts, but ever since being a bit more picky about my purchases starting this year I've also noticed I'm completing a lot more games, too. Though there are some odd exceptions that I presume others can relate to as well, that I buy being wholly aware that I'll never beat. Earlier this year for example I got No Man's Sky in a sale because I wanted to see how far it had come and I played it for two or three hours and called it quits. But that was more or less what I expected to get out of it because it's absolutely not my kind of game and I just was curious. But if something new comes out and I make the decision to pick it up close to release I'd say 9/10 times I'm going to finish it. It's more the classic games and some backlog stuff where I'm inclined to throw in the towel if it doesn't click, like somewhat recently with Astral Chain. In those cases it's more about seeing what the fuzz might have been about, not necessarily a deep initial interest in playing it (otherwise I likely would have done so at release). If those games impress me – great, I'll stick around. But if not I'm quick to move on.

  2. I try to make the effort. Baldur’s Gate 3 took me a year and a half but I finished it. Astral Chain took me several months. In general I think I’ve gotten better at finishing games. For example, I finished the other 3 games I started this year (Asylum, Blue Prince and Animal Well). But it’s when I do stuff like start Valkyria Chronicles the week Silksong is coming out that things get iffy. But luckily, VC is great so I’m 99% sure I’ll finish it (after Silksong probably).

  3. I used to try and complete every game I started. Stupidly even if I didn’t like them just in case they got good or clicked eventually. These days I’m far better at not wasting my time on a game I’m not enjoying. As for PS+ and GP games, doesn’t really make a difference. I’d dare say I’ve completed more games through Gp in the last few years than actually purchased. The one difference is I’ll try out a game which wouldn’t normally be my type just in case - but I’ll not feel as “guilty” about ditching them. Percentage wise I’m probably at around 75% started that I complete.

  4. Percent of complete titles is probably really low, maybe 15% I don't know but that could be way off. I don't really do the subscription thing other than earlier in the year I did for Doom, which I didn't complete. But whether I stick with something to the end or not depends on the game, I sort of feel a bit of an obligation to get back to Baldur's Gate II at some point cause it's this game with a totemic reputation, but I'm fine with taking really big breaks in the middle of games for some reason. But anything which gets really strong word of mouth puts me in a 'I have to know' mode, which is why I beat Blue Prince and Expedition 33 despite not finding them good, just pure stubbornness to know as much as possible cause of FOMO I suppose. Otherwise there's things I'm happy to drop really quickly if I think I know well enough my opinion won't change, like Silent Hill 2 remake. I'm not sure why but there's certain things where I'm much more happy to declare them a waste of time bullshit, like Trails in the Sky. I think a game being old makes it easier for me to just move on from some reason, but when it's the flavour of the month I go well past the 'should have sacked it in' threshold, again cause of stubbornness.
