  1. I've only played the first couple of bounties, but so far I'm really liking this. As per the trailer, it captures that 80's violent action film vibe really well. The 16-bit style graphics look really good, and the the synth soundtrack is great too. It has tons of character. Gameplay wise, it's a run and gun platformer. You fire forwards in the direction you're facing, you have a jump, a dash and a thrown weapon, and can duck or take cover from enemy fire in doorways. You have a pistol weapon with infinite ammo, and can pick up more powerful sub weapons with limited ammo, or a melee weapon. Each bounty (level) is a short action platforming section that leads up to your target, which is a mini boss fight. It's fairly straightforward, but is smooth and plays very well. I've only tried one player character so far, so don't know if they have gameplay differences. It's Epic exclusive on PC at the moment. With the £10 coupon thing in their sale going on right now it only cost me £7.99.

  4. I looked up the Japanese on the box. The phase「いざ、尋常に」comes from 「いざ、尋常に勝負しろ」 Apparently it’s a common expression in Japanese historical dramas. 尋常に means to do something straight or directly. 勝負 is like a fight or to settle a contest. In other words, “let’s settle this now” I guess...

  5. This is this month's PS+ game. Its been on my Switch list but I'll have it here for now. It's been a good, chill game to play at during these times and I reckon I can do better than those that run things now. Its kinda cathartic. Yeah, my first attempt I fucked up the water lines and poisoned everyone but it's a learning process... I've built a fairly well functioning city. Its a modest little place but everyone's happy and healthy. It's bustling and pretty green; it's nice. I've bought up some more land to expand but I need more money to build. I could really do with a university as occasionally a place goes out of business due to my undereducated population. But industry keeps complaining when I tax the dirty, polluting fucks. Maybe they're just mad because there was a point their building kept burning down and fire engines couldn't get to them because of my incremental and patchy expansion. It is a bit of a mess. But my next section will be city planning perfection.

  7. Anyone that’s interested, they are giving 200 free super spins to players today. Don’t know if it’s limited but I’ve just claimed them in case. Put the game on and claim one from you’re in game message box. They’ll be added to your total to open at your leisure then. As an aside, I didn’t know they’d added the photo collector mode recently either. Basically a challenge to just photo as many individual cars as possible. Don’t know why but I’ve just always enjoyed doing that in the previous ones and was slightly disappointed it was missing in this before. So glad that’s back too. The small load to get into photo mode is slightly irritating though.

  9. I thought this game was really good about telling you where to go considering the age. Most of its linear and when you’re in the over world, go to a few towns and 1 will no doubt tell you where to head next. But I was playing it daily for hours at a time so didn’t have any breaks to forget stuff. Just get on google, fuck paying £100 for a strategy guide for this.

  10. Graphically it reminds me of the old Bitmap Bros games on the Amiga.

  11. Played a bit more over the last couple of days and am still really enjoying it, I’m now about 21 hours in. I haven’t really got an awful lot done though as I think I’ve spent most of that time grinding. ? After Guadosalam I spent quite a bit of time in the Thunder Valley and Macalania Woods which were both cool places. Thunder Valley was a really atmospheric little area that felt like being trapped in a never ending thunder storm, Macalania woods was a nice tranquil wondrous place, like something out of a Zelda game or something really. So yeah, a lot of time was spent in both of these areas just having a whale of a time with the combat system really, I was just grinding away and continually attempting to get all my level spheres equal so I can level up everyone to the same level at the same time (I never quite manage it). I did have some trouble here though, there's a little mini-challenge where you have to collect 7 blue butterflies in 30 seconds or so, if you run into the red ones a random encounter pops up. I just got a bit overconfident, forgot when I had last saved and managed to get my party wiped by some enemies - whilst thinking about levelling rather than just staying alive - so that was 40 minutes progress lost. Once I finally got to Macalania shit really kicked off! Really enjoyed the puzzle here afterwards, similar to the others I’ve experienced in the temples but they’re getting more elaborate as the game goes on. I stupidly must’ve stepped on the floor square on the way out of the tunnel 2 or 3 times (resetting the puzzle in the process) on my way out though which was rather annoying ?. So yeah, still really enjoying it, still feels like I’ve barely made a dent in it though. More pics:
