  1. I bought this SAMSUNG - UE50NU7470 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED It's not OLED and it's not got the latest bleeding edge specs but for my requirements it will suit. I did check the input latency and I think it said around 15ms or something like that. Presumably a bit more with HDR enabled. But if input lag becomes a problem during like the inevitable Vergil fight in DMC5 on Dante Must Die or something like that I'm sure I can just turn HDR off or whatever Thanks for all the help guys ?, I'm really excited for this. I need a nice distraction in my life while my quality of life isn't so great right now. Way I see it this is me spending my 2019 tax rebate early.

  2. Have to say i've had more fun on RD Online than I have in the first ten hours or so of story mode. In fact, i've had more fun with RD online than i've had with any game this year. Playing in a posse of four means we've had great fun dealing with a few griefers. Hog-tieing them whilst someone else tramples them with a horse won't get old for a long time. I haven't paid much attention to the economy, but I haven't felt the need to buy anything yet. I find plenty of food and supplies just by searching houses.

  3. Bit of a weird pace to Yakuza 6. There's a lot of story up front, a lot of back story and video to get you up to speed, but once the game starts it's a very small story. For hours and hours the politics of the yakuza and the criminal underworld take a back seat, there's a few threads introduced, but it's almost all about Kiryu and Haruka. even the daftness of past Yakuza games is kept to a minimum. There's not a ton of side quests to start with, and what there is isn't the sort of memorable stuff you got in Yakuza 0. But then it starts to creep in. I've done a few missions as a mascot, I've fought some ghosts, I've punched a shark in the face, it's started to feel more like a Yakuza game. Once it starts it just steamrolls, you hints of a tangled political plot are now fully realised and I'm seeing multiple groups, multiple betrayals, Kauzuma somehow being key to it all. The new engine has meant the combat is a bit more free flowing, that's a bit of a mixed blessing as I liked the structured move set more, but at least it feels fresher. Levelling up has changed again, this is fine except for when you're short of one of the 5 different types of points and can't level certain stats up. The experience is also used for the gangs mini game, although it's not as expensive, but while there's lots of ways to get xp, certain types are less common. Money is also initially more scarce. Enemies don't drop it the way they did in 0, nor Kiwami, and there's no job as such. I'd recommend the perk that increases what you get from fights as an early purchase, but even then it's still very sporadic. There's also a gym that's an easy source of xp, and only costs you a meal. I'd mainly recommend it for the results page. Same with the fishing mini game, it's the closest thing you get to a job that I've seen, but it's funny and it's a decent game

  4. I've got Kiwami 2 and 6 ready to play. Last couple of years I've played 0 and Kiwami in January so I'm hoping to do so with Kiwami 2. There's nothing quite like Yakuza ?

  5. At Chapter 5,and this continues to be an absolute joy to play. Undoubtedly one of Playstation’s best exclusives. No other game can really match it for the “what the hell am I doing?” factor. I deliberately make the effort to hunt down every Side Mission,as you have no idea what’s going to be thrown at you next. And always leaves you laughing. Such as a rival gang proper into dressing up as adult babies. There’s an image I won’t be forgetting for a long time. Kiryu, slamming a bunch of grown men around,in nappies. Oh,Yakuza. Don’t ever change.

  6. Being a huge fan of the series, I love this. It does feel toned down from the manic-ness of both Zero and Kiwami 1. And I didn’t feel like there was quite as much to do. But still,it was a satisfying journey from beginning to end. Even if the tone is all over the place. One minute you’re hunting down Haruka’s attacker. The next you’re in an internet chatroom talking filth to a girl half your age. Typically bonkers Yakuza.

  7. I've gone back to this today and put a fair few hours in. The story seemed to be building to a crescendo so of course it now looks like there's another 10 hours. I think when I stopped last time I had a grip on what was going on, I've spent most of today completely lost as to the story. Names I don't recognise, politics that don't quite make sense. Now though it's pulled everything back in again, what happened before kind of doesn't matter, the secret not seeming like that big a deal to me, it doesn't matter. There's someone who isn't going to just leave Kiryu alone, and for that reason they'll probably end up dead on a rooftop

  8. It’ll make the name of the person who’s griefing you appear more clearly. So that you can accurately shout at just how much of a bell-end they are.

  10. EDF5 releases soon, a friend of mine has snagged a copy and says it's even more banana's than the last one, which is saying something really because those games don't give a fuck. I'm not sure where they can push the envelope for madness. Where do you go from the Earth being eaten? Looking forwards to getting in on it though, the improvements sound incremental, but as long as there's batshit crazy B movie lingo being thrown about and I can play through it with three friends I'm good.

  15. I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert because I'm absolutely not, but I can vouch for LG. Mine doesn't do full HDR (8bit instead of 10bit). I can't say I've noticed a huge amount of lag, I've got it on game mode, but I use it as a 2nd monitor if I want to play with a controller, I suspect switching from the monitor to the tv I'd notice the lag if it was bad (google says 6ms which seems low) The main reason I'm recommending it though is the apps. It's not the full Play store, and they've blocked installs from external sources, so no dodgy streaming (except through the web browser), but what it has is pretty full and good. It has Amazon, Netflix, youtube and iplayer all in 4k, the former supports HDR too. Based on friends who've bought new tvs, not all of them will have Amazon or support 4k

  16. Yeah I think it’s definitely worth finding out what the input lag is at least, I’ve read around 30ms is fine for gaming. A highly recommended tv for gaming recently, a Sony from maybe 1 or 2 years ago had 34ms. The way I look at it is I don’t really know how much I’m affected by it, but I can’t really afford to find out - I can’t buy a tv for ~£500 then find out games are unplayable. My current tv is 20ms.

  17. Nag isn't wrong I do probably play more games that require that crisp input. HDR does increase lag yes. The more a TV is throwing around the longer it takes to represent that image, if you imagine. Some technology is better than others so some models and manufacturers are better than others Some get really anal about it. You got PC gamers buying monitors with lag down into single digits. I'm not suggesting we get like that. My old HDTV of yesteryear had 16ms input lag. My mate had one in single digits. Our current TV, a 7 series Samsung from 2016 I think, has 24ms in HDR game mode. Very respectable. Would I notice 16-21? No. Would I notice 24-100+? Yup. So where nag is right in that it's not the be all end all, i don't agree not doing research or it being a frontal factor in your purchase. You need to research and make an informed decision. Not just blindly buy a TV if it's to be used for gaming.

  18. Every TV is different in regards to input lag. It's not usually a concerning factor because majority of people buying TV's aren't gaming. But as gamers it uniquely affects us. It's a definite concern and shouldn't be ignored. Especially when it comes to HDR. Some TV's with that enabled send it into silly numbers. I've got the same TV as Nag and he's a lucky bugger for getting such a good TV for gaming. He plays it in movie mode if I remember right and I tried that. It felt like I was drunk such was the delay. There's a 'game mode' for a reason on these TV's. It's not game breaking but to me it's just obvious the less delay from your input to screen is better. Each to their own, but ignore it at your peril.

  20. Played another 8 hours since my last post, 12 total. Still thoroughly enjoying my time with it, the graphics and lighting continue to astound. I was walking around Hiroshima earlier and was like aghast the entire time with how real everything was, I just can't get over it. The game and story itself is giving me serious Yakuza 3 vibes. You're in Hiroshima looking for information and bump into the local Yakuza faction here (of course you do) and that sets up other bits and pieces. Very similar to the start of Y3 just without all the orphanage stuff. So yeah, nothing much has happened yet, I'm in Chapter 4 now and I'm still getting milk for the baby and talking to new people and shit, all a bit mundane and it still feels like I'm in the Prologue, but yeah I'm loving the down time, I like games when they let themselves breath and enjoy the scenery and that is exactly what this is doing right now. Some mad shit has happened but nothing too crazy. There was the live cam chat I went through the other day, it's quite similar to the videos from Y0 but here you can interact with the model and if you press certain button combinations to spell out words then she'll slowly get more and more of her kit off. The chat room itself is pretty filled with fake users like 'bigguy' and stuff like that saying things to the model. I completed both the girls available's shows but hopefully I can unlock more later, seems a bit bare bones if it is just the 2. Then there was a side quest where you dress up as this mad mascot and have to put on a dance for the kids the baby charming mini game - where you have to do certain motions with the controls to stop the baby crying - but nothing else quite on the level of Y0 as of yet, definitely getting more Kiwami/Y3 vibes from this than Y0 so far but I'm still really early in. It's just a joy to spend time here, I was just strolling through Hiroshima earlier looking at all the people walking around and how great everything looks. Some pics:
